   Absolutely loved Ostra. Delicious and beautifully presented food with excellent service. Staff were very accommodating and gracious. Expensive, but worth it for a lovely dining experience

   This was my second time dining at Ostra and it will not be my last! I was with my mother to celebrate her birthday with a quick dinner before seeing a show nearby. Everyone on the staff made us feel like celebrities! The service was amazing and the food was the highlight! We enjoyed a dozen of the most delicious freshly shucked oysters I’ve ever had outside my own home. Not wanting to be too full while sitting through a show, we shared the ricotta gnocchetti first course and the grilled Faroe Islands salmon entrée. Both were delicious and the kitchen took the time to individually plate our portions. It was truly first class! They were so sweet to recognize my mother‘s birthday with a delectable scoop of vanilla ice cream and a delicious meringue hidden at the bottom. We wish we could have lingered over dinner longer, but we certainly will on our next visit! Do not miss this Boston gem with its stunning dining room and en vogue ambience.

   Ostra itself is beautiful. The tall ceilings and artwork make for a wonderful atmosphere. I suppose if you’re looking for an “experience” this is a great place. However, overall we felt the food was not outstanding given the premium prices you’re going to pay for the experience. We had a sea bass tartare to begin that was somewhat bland and a bit loose in its consistency. It was coupled with very salty crisps. We tried the shrimp cocktail also which was excellent in its presentation and flavor. Our drinks consisted of several cosmos and wine. Liquor is quite expensive which, I realize, can go along with Boston itself but it was almost $50 for 2 cosmos and $25 for a glass of wine. Our main courses consisted of the Sea Bream(an interesting and flavorful fish) and the paella dish. The paella was disappointing. While it simply could have been because it was a busy night it had only an adequate flavor and the seafood seemed somewhat dry and overcooked. Specifically, the squid, normally flavorful and juicy, was awful tasting and excessively chewy. We had been waiting some time by that point and sending it back didn’t seem like a good option. Our waitress was fine, not overly attentive , but she certainly checked on us during our meal. As I stated it was “good” and quite an experience but the almost $400 bill with gratuity seemed excessive. I am glad we went but I don’t see a return trip in our future……

   Delicious food, amazingly attentive and friendly service. Caitlyn was our server and she was wonderful. Gnocchette was superb and the paella fantastic. Can’t recommend enough.
