I dined early to attend a jazz performance in the hotel. Menu choices were varied. I ordered the Nicoise dinner with a glass of Pinot Grigio. The salad was fresh and appropriately dressed with a light vinaigrette. I was surprised by the generous portion. Good work in the kitchen: fresh tuna and a delightful poached egg were a rich counterpoint to the fresh greens, tomatoes, and green beans. Rowan provided competent service and ensured that the food arrived in time for me to arrive at the concert without rushing.

Sam our server, was great! There could have been some louder background music as it didn’t seem like there was any. Ambiance suffered a bit because of that. Upbeat jazz? Food was great, cocktails are strong! We enjoyed our evening.

We usually do have ambiance music playing in the Oval Room but it can be hard to hear when the room gets busy. This place has gone to a whole new level. A great new level. From the hostess, to our server, to the presentation of our dishes, to the amazing tastes, textures and flavours of the plates prepared, all I can say is "Bravo, there's a new player in this little town". :)

We really, very much enjoyed the service and delectable food we ate. However, we only wish there was–like it used to be–live music on Sunday evenings, just a solo act would be completely satisfactory, the room is crying for it! Such pleasing decor and architecture and many fond memories here.

Hello Bonnie, we thank you for joining us and we're so pleased to see that you enjoyed your meal. We play ambiance music in the background in the Oval Room, though it can be difficult to hear when the restaurant is busy. Starting on June 19th we will have live music on the Sunset Terrace every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In the fall, we will return to our regular programming with Jazz Winnipeg and will have live jazz every Sunday night. Check out the Fort Garry Hotel website under "Entertainment" for our live music schedule and we hope to see you this summer on the patio!

Great communication upon reservation. I ordered roses for my wife and had them delivered. Oval staff was happy to set up my table with my wife’s Anniversary flowers added to the table. Thank you, we had a great experience!
