With its chic décor and passion for real Thai food, the Patara restaurant chain remains popular with London’s discerning foodies. This branch on Maddox Street near Oxford Circus is ideal for low-key lunches, post-shopping refuels and cosy dinner dates before a night out in nearby Soho. In the Patara kitchen, a team of expert chefs use traditional recipes and ingredients to create familiar Thai cuisine favourites like tom yum gai, fragrant green curry and pad Thai noodles. But there are some innovative creations coming out of the kitchen too. We recommend trying some of their excellent seafood dishes like grilled tiger prawns with lemongrass and lime dressing. Patara’s dining room is equally impressive with wooden wall carvings, brown leather banquettes and bundles of bamboo, creating a stylish but unpretentious setting perfect for any occasion.

    Service was ok. But kitchen was poor. Served salad with nuts even when informed about allergies. Luckily discovered the issue before the person with allergies had some. Returned and replaced without nuts. Lamb chops were rock hard and burnt black on one side. Returned and cancelled from bill. Somewhat disappointed overall. Ambiance ok. Feels run down a little. Not returning.

    We hadn't eaten here for about a year, but the food was superb as per our previous visit, this time four us and they were generous portions. We were running late due to heavy traffic in our taxi, so I called the restaurant to advise this (as per the booking instructions), and they kindly kept our table even though we were 20 minutes late. Friendly and helpful staff, happy to recommend and will definitely go back again.
