   The standard of food has dropped remarkably since Boydells took over the Paterson Tavern. We are part time locals and were expecting Boydells would improve the standard of food at the tavern given they own the very good Cellar Door restaurant in Morpeth. The opposite has happened and it is unlikely we will ever eat there again unless things improve. A number of us chose the felafel salad last weekend as we had memories of the previous owners homemade felafels. It was woeful. Shop bought, dry felafels, basic sad salad drowning in bottled dressing and other limp salad items. Others at the table had the burgers which have also dropped in standard and a few noodle salads which were again drowning in sauce. It seems like the chef either doesn't care or is not competent. We have always loved having a drink out the front of the Paterson and probably still will, the atmosphere is lovely and staff are excellent and friendly, but we won't be eating there.

   We are locals and have noticed with the earlier change of ownership that a great little country pub has gone downhill. The meals are not what you would expect in a country pub and comparing the menu and the actual meal served to that of the pub at Gresford leaves the Tavern sadly lacking. Having to order your sides as an extra is something you expect to find in a ritzy city restaurant. A pub style meal should come with vegetables. The bistro out the back was nice and quiet but no ambience. Bland and no atmosphere. Our meals were not great. Some of us had grilled fish with salad but the salad was just a bit of lettuce and tomato next to the fish. The service was very good and friendly. We all would like to see our previous tavern return.

   Group of 8 ladies were staying nearby and we all arrived using their courtesy bus. All the staff were extremely helpful and happy. We all enjoyed our meals which were cooked well and tasted fantastic. Extremely enjoyable night was had by all. Thanks to all at Patterson's Tavern & Bistro. Can highly recommend.

   Our group of 10 ladies who were travelling from out of town had a great lunchtime experience at Paterson Tavern & Bistro. The service was exceptional and the meals were generous and tasty. We would definitely recommend this venue for a meal!

   Not many restaurants in our area know how to poor a proper Guinness. Well priced and friendly service. Food was loved by all.

   We had a family celebration with around 38 guests. The service was excellent. Minimal wait time between ordering and service and great pub food. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and we had a terrific family celebration . Highly recommend The Paterson Tavern.
