About this restaurant

  • Neighbourhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
Piccola Cucina Osteria it's our gem in the heart of SoHo. The Chef and owner Philip Guardione opened in January 2013 to bring in the city the real taste of Sicily.
Friendly service with a buzzy atmosphere, all in a typical Italian restaurant setting. It is matched by home cooking like you would expect to eat in Italy, which is one of the keys to the success of the restaurant. Fully renovated in 2021 the location looks warm and cozy.

Our other two Piccola Cucina locations in Manhattan are:
Piccola Cucina Estiatorio ( 75 Thompson street )
Piccola Cucina Uptown ( 106 E 60th Street )

Piccola Cucina Osteria accepts online requests for parties smaller than 6 guests only.

If you are new to New York or live here already like us, and want that true disrespectful New York restaurant here it is! After making reservations a month in advance to have the hosts be rude with insults in Italian and Spanish and disregard that we waited there kindly and patiently, not to mention them giving someone else (a walk in) our table is outstanding! Pasta sauce that had a metallic taste for my mother and a pasta slathered in oil you might as well give us the can and bottle to go do shots with on the curb. After the wait when we were finally seated no service, then when the waitress finally decided to ask what we needed was sheer comedy,(a whole SNL sketch at this point), she left to never be seen again till I got the check. In the great words of nene leeks “so nasty, so rude” Olive Garden had better food unfortunately and Olive Garden is……well you know.

I don't think this location is a good as the other locations. We were seated in the back, and crammed in a corner (i asked to sit in the front in my opentable reservation). However the overall space is charming; outside looked lovely. I had been to a sister restaurant, and loved it, so expected more than what we got. Bread and calarmari excellent. But the brushetta was legit terrible. The toppings were wonderful but the bread was tough/unedible - while the table bread was so so good? I would not even bother with a bad review over this, but my husband and son ordered the same steak. The steak portion was VERY small, and my son's was significantly smaller than my husband's. I alerted them, asked for a side of pasta for my son due to the very small portion he was given, and they insisted no sides of pasta were allowed (it is an italian restaurant? Pasta all over the menu? I wasn't asking it to be free, just to supplement the tiny steak serving.) When the check came, they gave us a free dessert - is this TGI Fridays? In short, a disappointment. I would say if you are having a special dinner for a birthday (it was mine) skip it, but if willing to handle some bumps, they may improve. For us we left to hunt for french fries afterwards for my son - not would I would expect for $250 dinner.

Delicious meals, attentive service Very small and crowded therefore high noise level, which did not bother us or take away from the experience.

Creo que fueron las mejores pastas que comí en mi vida. Me sorprendió. La atención es muy buena, el lugar es chico, música fuerte, pero la comida es de otro mundo. El tiramisú le puso el broche de oro.
