We were drawn into the restaurant by the window sign offering “authentic Sicilian cannoli“ beside the plate of empty pastry tubes, confirming the sign to be accurate. (Pre-filled cannoli tubes get soggy) The furnishings are simple, even utilitarian. However, the food is excellent in preparation and presentation and the service was equal to it. We knew we had found authentic Italian cuisine when we noticed the party at the table beside us were speaking Italian. This restaurant is a remarkable value given its location.

Great spot for a casual dinner! Food was delicious. Loved everything we ordered. Service was friendly but there were a few misses with one entree being forgotten and having to follow up on it twice.

Came across this place while walking through Palmer Alley, its location is pretty good especially for the price it offers. A quaint cafe, food is very good and simple however, not a lot to choose from. Great wines and pizzas. A good and simple italian meal if you are looking for one The service varies, our server was a little cold but nothing too bad. Food came well within time and beverages were good - wine, cocktails, coffee.

There was just no food. No pizza, no sandwiches, etc. I am not sure why they were even open or accepting reservations. We had to find another place to eat.

We waited to be seated despite having a reservation. The service was absolutely chaotic. Our food was served cold. Pizza was room temperature and soggy, despite waiting thirty minutes for it. We wanted to try dessert to try to save the experience, but our waiter brought the bill without even asking whether we wanted dessert or more drinks, which we did. Overall poor experience. Very disappointing.

I entered the lowest levels because you gave no other option to address my concern. I made a reservation on OpenTable for Piccolina for 11/19/24 at 7:15 for 2. OpenTable confirmed my reservation. My wife came downtown from Chevy Chase, MD to meet me. When I met her at the restaurant, the staff told me they were closed because they had just hosted a private event and were cleaning up. We walked across to Centrolina and had dinner there. That was not where we had planned to go, and we wound up spending much more for dinner than we would have spent at Piccolina -- $215 vs $135. That's not acceptable! Imagine if I had a larger party! I don't know whether the fault lies with OpenTable or Piccolina, but it certainly shakes my confidence in booking through OpenTable. I'd appreciate hearing your explanation. And I would hope that, to make up for the extra $80 we had to spend for dinner, either (1) OpenTable will deposit dining points in my account equal to $80 or (2) Piccolina or OpenTable will issue a gift card to us for use at the restaurant in the amount of $80. Thank you.

The server was not attentive. There were too many “fruit” flies inside the restaurant. The gazpacho was not chilled. The fish kebab was not fully cooked - only the shrimp was cooked.

I had the eggplant parmesan, which was excellent. The other 2 at my table had pizzas, which they both enjoyed, although one said there was too much char on the crust. We all three had cannolis. We all agreed that the shells were delicate and delicious. People like the traditional filling the best (we had pistachio and dulce de leche). Our server, Brath, as exceptional. Great place, great time!
