   Have written a review similar to this one before and was hoping this would be different. Plate jus isn’t cutting it for my wife and I, and we really want to like it. Again with this visit to the Brookside location (las couple of times we have visited Leawood) the food was disappointing. We do not like the ambience of the Leawood location and thought the Brookside was more appealing. After last night we would say, just a bit better. The lighting was good, but it still seems somewhat stark in the place. A few more pops of color would help. The service was good. We were at a high top table which apparently belongs to the bartender. They shouldn’t as she was plenty busy and was running around trying to serve us, handle the bar patrons and make drinks. She did a good job overall, but the tables weren’t so crowded that the wait staff couldn’t have covered us. The food, disappointing again. Plate wants to be upscale with their offerings but they missed the mark on two of three items. We had the mussels to start and they were quite “well” cooked. Also, very little broth ( which could have been the issue as the mussels looked dry). Not enough bread for the small amount of broth we had, so if a better serving of broth is included one would need more bread. We had the veal scaloppine and the bucatini. Bucatini was decent. The red sauce was good and flavorful. Added a meatball which didn’t really add much as the meatballs are meh. Pasta was al dente which was nice. The veal was very disappointing. It just tasted like the oil it was cooked in. The sauce which was described as limone, had no taste of lemon. The manager offered a free dessert when we shared our disappointment with the veal which was very nice. Prices are a bit on the high side for the portions, except for the sides which are good. Just wish the main dishes were as good as the sides. With the plethora of other good Italian themed restaurants in the area Plate has dropped quite a ways down the list.

   Everything was very good... a couple of standouts were the Pappardelle with pork, and the Italian dessert doughnuts.

   Wonderful night! Service and meals were fantastic. Loud and not the best ambiance due to sitting between large tables of kids before a high school formal, kids will be kids.

    Plate was a wonderful experience. The food was wonderful we tried a variety of items and everything was delicious. Our server was very helpful and had great suggestions on food selections. They had a live musician which we were seated somewhat close to which was a touch noisy but my wife and I could still carry a conversation well enough.
