Nice atmosphere, great service and food sublime, halloumi fries and teriyaki chicken to start, then steak burger, and 2 rump fillets cooked on stones, quality is second to none, the toffee sundae, sticky toffee pudding and white chocolate cheesecake, really enjoyable evening, will definitely return

Had to wait a long time to be served despite it been virtually empty.Food at best was OK. Seated in the lower ground floor which was freezing only heated by an inadequate small fan heater. Problem compounded by owner/ proprietor who in his wisdom turned it off as he left the pub whilst we were mid meal. Atmosphere as cold as the room temperature Only booked because of historical reputation. Something must have changed

We were pretty disappointed with our meal here. We dined here in the summer and the burger meals were very generous portions and absolutely delicious. Our meals this week were very average and hadn’t reduced in price despite serving half the amount as last time.

We are becoming regulars here, regardless of which staff members are on shift, everything from the moment you walk through the door is perfect, great food, great service, great atmosphere, just a brilliant little pub

Empty restaurant, slowest service ever, an hour wait for starter then 45 mins for main. Oil hasn't been changed in a long time as batter on haggis and fish was disgusting. Service girl was clueless, under age to serve alcohol and knew nothing about it. Not sure how these places get such good reviews when they are terrible, restaurant was so cold too. Will never be back.

I know lamb is fatty but most of the cut I got was fat, as well as the roast potatos tasted as though they had been reheated. The veg , mash potato and yorkie was amazing. My partners veg roast also tasted as there was too much uncooked swede (or butternut squash - we arent sure) in it.

After being several times before this time was very different food just warm beef was very thin and tough to cut gravy was watery and tasteless veg was not the best nothing had much taste. Previously our experiences had been exceptionally good this is why we returned but unfortunately we wont be returning again as it was a complete waste of money. I did ask if they had a new chief which they did.

We were made very welcome for Sunday lunch. The food was tasty and plentiful, a large bowl of creamy cauliflower cheese and another containing a medley of vegetables. The pork and gammon combo was excellent. The beef and lamb were tasty but a little more difficult to chew! The service wasn't the fastest, but was very amiable and accommodating and I felt was worth the wait. All in all a pleasurable experience for Sunday lunch. We would return!
