Poetry / like food / is meant to be shared.
Our words can evoke, comfort, inspire, fulfill, provoke, ultimately adding meaning to our lives and nutrition to our souls. Like words on a page, bringing ingredients together on a dish is our poetry; the love of preparing and sharing food from the heart is what brings out the poet in us…
For the same reasons behind revisiting the works of your favorite poet, we aim to offer a place that brings you back for food and atmosphere. Find familiar comfort, or experience and inspire new, with friends, family, and self.

Poeta is nestled within The Frances Modern Inn located on historic 11th street, just minutes from downtown.
Locally created and operated by award winning chefs, this neighborhood establishment welcomes everyone to partake in a meal, drinks, or dessert all day with breakfast, lunch or dinner, and enjoy daily happy hour.

Super cozy spot in East Austin. We had Sunday brunch on the back patio, and I would love to go back for a date night.

We recently enjoyed a nice brunch at Poeta, sitting outside on the back veranda. We had the gorgonzola antipasti served with crudites and grilled bread. I asked for the vegetables and my request was received warmly. We then decided to share the Chicken Milanese served with grilled endive and a delightful lemon sauce underneath. The service was excellent and our waiter recommended a nearby vintage bookshop. We highly recommend Poeta and plan to visit again for the evening menu.

The service was great but the food was just ok. It was very loud there- the wait staff was amazing . I got the spaghetti and it was just pork, cream and noodles. Very plain.

Great first visit. Sat out back on the patio. Chloe was our server and they were amazing! Explained the menu and some favorites. We opted for brunch and it was all delicious!

Interesting menu. The starters were all tempting. We had the pate, arancini, and cauliflower shared among four. The grilled Caesar salads were huge and one could have been shared by four though good they were not "great" and definitely required knife and fork. Pasta was definitely fresh not dried. and thoroughly enjoyed. Wine list was brief and service was somewhat inept. Waiter replaced screw top , on a decent Etna Rosso, after first pour! Cinnamon "gelato" was delicious but consistency was more like ice cream. There was a decent piano player but the overall effect of the music was more suited to a bar than a restaurant.

Had a great first experience at Poeta when I brought my friend for her birthday. She has Celiac and Poeta is highly rated for Gluten free offerings and preparations. The service was fantastic and they did a great job giving my friend a modified menu. All of the anti-pasti, main courses and dessert were all hits with us. The goat cheese cheesecake was phenomenal and gluten free. I got the milk braised pork which was very flavorful. I really want to go back to try their pasta.
