Pony’s executive chef and team are the masters of the wood fire grill, producing contemporary and modern Australian dishes of the season’s freshest produce since its opening in 2006.

In an open kitchen where Exec Chef Neil Nolan enjoys a chat with our guests, the Argentinian grill fuelled by iron bark takes dominance with the menu created around this masterpiece.

Pony is located in Sydney’s oldest cobblestone laneway within the historic and bustling dining precinct of The Rocks offering inside and outside seating. Our carefully crafted boutique selection of wines and delicious cocktail list complements our a la carte and group menus.

Absolutely blown away—what an exceptional restaurant! We’ve dined here a few times now, and every visit has been consistently impressive. From the moment you walk in, the service is warm and attentive, the atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, and the food… simply unforgettable. The Burrata is a standout—creamy, fresh, and perfectly balanced with its accompaniments. The eye fillet is melt-in-your-mouth tender, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. And the duck breast? Rich, succulent, and beautifully presented. Every dish is a reminder of why we keep coming back. A true gem—we’ll definitely be back again soon!

Pony Dining was our favorite dining experience for the time we spent in Sydney. The wait staff was helpful and pleasant. The food was exceptional. The wood fired steak was superb. We also shared a salad and bread. Everything came out promptly and was excellent. Highly recommend Pony Dining!

Really good visit to Pony Dining. Service was great. Seated quickly, efficient service and great suggestions. We both had steaks, and they were cooked to perfection. Cheese tart we had was also delicious. Good wine selection, and good specialty cocktails.

This is a wonderful place, we first visited in 2006. Lots has changed, but the food and ambiance has remained the best. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Sydney

Service was top notch and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. The duck was delicious and the presentation was so colorful and pretty. My steak was so tender and tasty. We had a great dinner and the ambience was perfect.

Delicious food, great location and well priced. No sommelier on site but staff were able to talk through the wine list. Had the kangaroo skewers, wood-fired prawns, and steak with broccolini. Would definitely visit here again.
