Poppie’s is renowned for authenticity – and it’s little wonder, with born and bred
East-end proprietor, Pat ‘Pop’ Newland, at the helm. Pop’s career in the fish and chip business started in 1952 when, aged 11, he got a job on Roman Road cutting up copies of The Daily Mirror to wrap fish and chips in. With decades of experience behind him, ‘Pop’ founded Poppie’s. The shops are filled with retro memorabilia from Pop’s childhood, The uniforms channel a 1950s vibe, and the music is tailored to each shop. Dining in one of Pops restaurants is an experience with retro vibes and iconic looks from the decades. For instance, Seventies Formica and Anaglypta wallpaper will be just one of many pieces of kitsch decor on show.

We celebrated my son's 18th here after a fantastic day in Camden he loves Fish and chips so we thought it would be a good option and we weren't wrong! The food was fresh and delicious and the service outstanding. They made a real fuss of him and we all had a great time! I would highly recommend Poppies!

Booked table for us on Saturday night to make sure for my birthday. Welcomed at door but did not have to show booking. Given nice location table upstairs . Service and food very good with nice atmosphere in 1940/50s setting. NB: must see toilets- repro Victorian!

Muy bueno el fish and chips de bacalao. Viene con patatas y una crema como de hierbas. La crema viene a parte. Genial la comida.

Buena experiencia! El personal muy amable, solicite recomendación y me explicaron bien los diferentes platos típicos de allí, la decoración del local peculiar, la comida bastante bien, nos fuimos contentos de allí, enhorabuena.
