Reservations of 6 or less can be made through OpenTable. We do not take reservations of groups larger than 8. Walk - ins welcomed when seats are available.     We had a fantastic night, ambience is lovely, food was amazing, great value, great portions for the cost, and the sharing plates made it even more enjoyable, to be able to try even more. Our waitress was beyond impressive as she helped with our decisions and portion size. Highly recommend 5 star all the way! Congratulations to Ross and Celeste on bringing such a fantastic experience to St.John’s, simply the best meal we’ve had in a long time!

    Our server Sam was exceptional! She made wonderful suggestions that added to an overall great experience! Brandon was also very kind and charming Can’t speak more highly of our time there tonight - great stuff!

    Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Servers are knowledgeable on what to order, what order things should come out in, how much to order, which veg and protein pairs best, etc. Trust them, they're the experts! My suggestion for dessert? Get them all. Enjoy the mocktails - esp black currant mule.

    It pains me to leave a negative review for a local restaurant. This was a terrible experience. Service was very slow and unattentive. Empty glasses with no offer of a refill until we were moments from leaving. We received our initial foccacia and burrata and that was delicious. Then beets appeared alone. Odd just to eat beets. Next came the cod which was steamed with some chilli oil and soya sauce…for $52. Unimaginative. Uninspired. After a very long wait, whereby we thought the dishes were not going to arrive, out came dumplings and potatoes. After waiting so long, we were no longer hungry and left those. Desert choices were a cookie box or a muffin? What? Just a weird experience which was definitely not satisfying or worth anywhere near the over $200 cost.

    I'm a regular at Portage and am never disappointed. Service is great, recommendations on point and there is an excellent wine list.
