About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for brunch
  • Great for outdoor dining
We are a New Zealand inspired whimsical restaurant set in a craftsman house that dates back to 1905. We are one block off the main drag in Little Italy. Sink your teeth into one of our organic beef or lamb burgers. We also have many salads and dinner entrees to try. Portions are generous, and prices are reasonable.

I have never been seated inside. Our table was in the parlor with a whimsical sheep and grass ceiling. Drinks were fun and came out quickly. Food was sizzling and plentiful. I had the Fish Stew and my friend had the Pot Pie. Her dish was creamy and certainly big enough for two. Both dishes were excellent. Too full for desert but I’ll be back for the portobello fries!!

Bummed that my first review on here isn’t super positive. Gorgeous spot, great location and solid F+B. That said, our table of 5 felt pressured to order quickly as our server told us the kitchen was closing about 75min before the restaurant closed. We all work in the industry so understand how days/shifts can go. However, they then sent our entrees out while we were still eating our apps. Then, our dessert (one with ice cream) came out in the middle of our entrees. This was at least 45min before the restaurant closed. From there, they (especially our server) were starting to break down for the night and huffing past us. It was uncomfortable to say the least. The ambience is incredible, food was great but man, their hospitality really needs work.

Services was fast, but the server was too busy to give us better service. Chicken was too spicy and there was not a no spicy option. Tables are too close to each other, I could barely hear myself speak. The music is almost dubstep music; unnecessary.

Queenstown used to be one of my favorite restaurants. We ate there this past Friday and a very bad experience I ordered the flat iron steak which comes pre-sliced I ordered the steak medium well it came out almost raw, as rare a steak as I've ever been presented. I asked the waiter when I could find him I actually had to get up and track them down after waiting more than 10 minutes for him to come by. How he can give me a steak when I ordered it medium well and this is clearly very rare he apologized and said he would have to make it all over again which would take about 15 to 20 minutes My wife had already gotten her food and was mostly done. So I said just put it back on the grill and heat it up I don't need something brand new and this came back in about 5 minutes and it was mediocre at best. Clearly very very understaffed. Lots of other restaurants in Little Italy to go to this one's not what it used to be.

Hi Doug, We understand you were disappointed in the experience last weekend. We wanted to apologize for the missteps. We strive to deliver the product as requested and clearly we did not in this instance. It sounds like in your review, our server was busy and we apologize if you felt we were not able to check back with you in a timely manner as well. Both are mistakes on our part. We would like to invite you back to give you a better lasting impression of our establishment. We pride ourselves on quality service and food/drinks. If this interests you, please respond here privately and we would be more than happy to get you taken care of. Kia Ora
