   We brought out-of-town guests to one of our favorite restaurants. It did not disappoint. We ate in the patio, had wonderful service and the usual delicious food. Our guests really enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the experience.

   What we liked: Nice wine list, excellent spinach salad, perfectly done pork chop, delicious apple pie. They remembered it was a birthday and brought a candle with the apple pie - nice touch. It's charming inside, but tables are too close together and it was very loud because people were having a good time. The patio looks very inviting, but not during winter. What we didn't like so much: the noise level, feeling a bit rushed to order (5 mins after getting the menu?!?!), the duck breast was overdone, and the rice combo was just odd. Presentation was lacking, especially for a "French" restaurant. No decaf coffee available???

   This restaurant is a Rancho Santa Fe Treasure. I highly recommend it start with the baked brie. It’s awesome.

   We have been to this restaurant numerous times always having the best experience. Food and Service. Valentines night was a bit different. As we love the food and love our server Gregory, the owner came over and tried to get us to order so we could leave at a certain time. This was right after we had ordered our dinner. It was obvious he was trying to get all patrons into the restaurant. It was so very uncomfortable as we told him we just ordered and you cannot tell us to leave at a certain time. We were just there an hour. Usually dining experience is two hours. He got very belligerent telling us this is his restaurant. I asked him to leave our table. He kept going with telling us how things work etc etc. We were all appalled by his behavior. Well he ended up bringing me a free bottle of wine and we left after dinner at a half empty restaurant. This was not a good experience. Maybe he needs to retire.

   Our entrees arrived dry…not nearly as moist and flavorful as same entree servings in past visits That said, love the outdoor seating ambiance

   I enjoyed the locally-sourced, fresh menu selections, hospitality, and friendly service during our family's week-long holiday stay. At Lillian's, Brian, manager, was especially thoughtful.

    What a find in the middle of Rancho Santa Fe! All the decorative lights on, quaint wood framed windows, protected patio out front- we chose a corner table inside, cozy crates of wine and poinsettias piled around, soft conversations from the tables, the gentle maîtred, the comforting waitress. What an ambiance. The Norwegian salmon and New York steak were special. Extensive wine menu. We loved the experience !
