We enjoyed the Wagyu experience for our visit to Rare. We were seated fairly quickly but not offered a drink or even water. We sat there for a good 15 minutes before I got sick of waiting for someone to offer a drink. I walked up to the bar where there were 3 wait staff standing and asked if we could get a drink. The waitress told me it was table service, so I replied "I know!! There just isn't any at our table" After this clunky start things got much better with our drinks arriving and order taken promptly. The wagyu skewers were tough as hell but the steak was as nice as I've ever eaten. All in all a nice experience and we'll return, but plenty of room for improvement, especially with the price point being charged.

food was good, but very expensive for the portion you get. Carbonara was very salty, so much so, it made me feel quite sickly. The steak was beautiful though. Will be back again still.

Hands down, Absolutely the best steak we have eaten. The steak just melts in your mouth. And the Diane sauce… OMG amazing. We love Rare.

The service was fantastic, our drinks and meals were on time. Our starters were great our mains were presented very well but unfortunately the steak I ordered wasn’t very good and the saddest part is I probably could’ve bought a steak from woollies and cooked it on the bbq and it would’ve been better. Our desert we had also was great.

One of the best dining experiences in a very long time. Everything was perfect right from the moment we walked in the door. Amazing service, great atmosphere and absolutely sensational food and wine! We will definitely return.

Outstanding. Clearly one of Mackay’s best restaurants. The food is terrific and the kitchen, menu and food-quality is on par with some of Melbourne or Sydney’s best. The cocktail menu too is sublime. Our only critique was for a five-star dining experience we would recommend better table napkins. We would have expected a laundered linen napkin, not a paper napkin that you can get at KFC. But a minor criticism for an outstanding restaurant.
