Overall, our experience was very bizarre. Gave it 2 stars for the food because everything else was just strange. Went early to have cocktails, very limited bar. Bar was out of cherries and twice asked the bartender (who I think was just a manager) for a big rock. Was given a cocktail with a glass full of small ice cubes which watered down the liquor. It seemed to take him a while to figure out how to close out our check. We closed out bc the maître d’ told us our table would be ready. That wasn’t the case and we ended up standing in the hall by the host stand for a while. We had to give our name 2 times because no one could remember it. From there, we were sat for dinner where it was very apparent that the staff were not properly trained. There were some small hiccups - challenge opening the wine, dropping the butter, wrong dessert brought out - but it was the overall vibe that showed how poorly trained they were. The long table behind us sat unbussed for the entire time we were there despite staff walking by it and even sitting down there. We witnessed servers holding plates of food while yelling over the railing down the stairs to their colleagues, sitting down drinking cans of soda, and even one server picking up a very full glass of wine that has been sitting on the unbussed table and basically chugging it down in one fell swoop. All this right in the middle of the dining room. The food was good, but none of it came out hot and every course seemed like it had been sitting in the back for a bit. Steak was not cooked to the temperature requested. Overall, disappointed with our experience and will not be returning. It’s too bad because we had really been looking forward to giving this restaurant a try. Has David Burke even been here in a while? If he hasn’t, shame on him. If he has, shame on him.

Unfortunately the restaurant was overbooked. people were 6 deep waiting at the bar, so it was noisy, crowded and the poor people who were trying to have dinner there, had rear ends in their face. The bartender was not up to the task. Wrong orders, no napkins, didnt ask those not having a drink if they wanted water, soda etc. Once seated upstairs the experience was better. The service was attentive and the room is comfortable. The food is always good, so that is not even the question. Inventive dishes, nicely plated, portions acceptable.

Had a very tasty pork chop. Unfortunately wanted a bone in Rib Eye but they were sold out at 6:30 on a Saturday night. Also sold out of Woodford Reserve and the Paul Hobbs Pinot. So I didn’t get anything I originally ordered. Place was extremely crowded due to a birthday party taking over the main dining room. Extremely loud. Waiter was working his butt off with little help. So kudos to him. Meanwhile still not a fan of David Burke restaurants. Don’t like the Driftwood either.

We went to Red Horse during the Jersey Shore Restuarant Week and were very satisfied with our meal . Our appetizers were delicious, we had the tuna/salmon tartar and the spring rolls. Entrees were even better....bison short rib was outrageously good and the Beef tenderloin bolognese was superb. Dessert was tiny dancer chocolate mousse which was sinfully delicious . Our server was attentive and efficient. We will not have to wait for restuarant week to go back to Red Horse....we loved our experience.

We really enjoy everything when dining at Red Horse. Relaxed, elegant ambiance, friendly and professional service. The food is always excellent. We had 2 different types of salads, the 22 oz bone in rib eye, and the 3 sides for $30, all delicious. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake in a can, with toppings and ice cream, This is $26, and big enough for 4 (we were 4). We also enjoy the weekly specials, but didnt do any of them this time (even Jersey Shore Restaurant week). We look forward to going again soon.
