   Great food for a lunch gathering with friends. Pizza and salads. You can't get that combination most other places that qualify as "fit for a foodie." The strong selection of many sharable salads is the game changer here. They are all fresh and delicious. There is a "great pizza" on the menu for everyone to be happy with the choices. My guests are always impressed with the friendly service too. You train them well. I will keep coming back.

   We were there on Mother's Day - a notoriously busy and crowded day to dine out. But our reservations were promptly handled, and we were seated right on time. From then on, the service was very good. It was clear the restaurant was prepared for the crowd. The food and drink came out promptly, and it was clear that the restaurant was not only adequately staffed for a busy evening, there were two gentlemen walking around, checking on us. :How's everything? Do you need anything? Rise is one of our regular destinations, but I was extra impressed with how well they handled the crowd.

   Burrata pizza and custom date and bacon pizza were outstanding. Italian chopped salad and chicken cobb salad were huge and very good. Our server Linda was very sweet and attentive inspite of being understaffed. Will definitely return.

   Wonderful service and good food! Hard to choose what to order, but we were not disappointed. I definitely want to return to try the pizza and other offerings.

   Food and portions were excellent. Heaters made temperatures very nice. It was very noisy and service a bit erratic, but all servers helped each other when we needed it.

   Right next to the San Mateo train station, Rise rises to the occasion and gives you a feeling of traveling somewhere fantastic and in this case, to devour some beautiful Italian pizzas! My favorite is the fungi and along with it a chopped salad! It is the best way to start your Friday night and weekend. They welcome you with open arms, smiles on their faces and an evident desire to make sure you get exactly what you want! Cheers.

   Ordered two pizzas, Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, cornbread and beers. Food arrived quickly. Pizzas were delicious, great crust. Brussels sprouts and salad were both good but could use a little more salt. Cornbread was delicious, beers nice and cold. Enjoyable meal and we will definitely return.

   The prime rib & brussel spouts are absolutely delicious. The service was awesome! When ever I'm in San Mateo, I always go to Rise!!

   This was my third time eating here in the past 3 months and I've enjoyed each time. The food is good, reasonably priced, good portions, good service and I especially enjoy eating in the main dining area - it's a nice vibe. I will continue to return.

    Great spot for our big group and dog-friendly, which was a huge plus. The staff was super nice and welcoming—no complaints there. But unfortunately, the rest was kind of a letdown. The food was just meh. My Napoli pizza came out cold (not even lukewarm), and the rest of the group felt the food was forgettable at best. We sat in the covered outdoor area so we could have our pup with us, and it was nice at first—chill vibes, passing trains, easy to hear each other talk. But once the dinner crowd rolled in, it turned into a full-blown kid zone. One family let their kids scream non-stop, and it felt like we were trapped on a flight with no noise-canceling headphones or exit row. If you’re coming with a big group just looking to drink and don’t mind the chaos, it might work for you. Otherwise, there are definitely better places to eat and hang out.
