Rive is a French Bistro on the Saugatuck River in Westport, created by Chef Eric Sierra whose Bistro des Amis in downtown Westport was, for a decade, the go-to place of some of the world's best French bistro cooking.

Like the legendary bistros of Paris, Rive is warm, and convivial, a true bistro populaire.

The dining room, with a wrap-around wall of windows overlooks a bend in the river, there is fireplace for winter, and in warm weather there is an outdoor patio that feels like a cafe on the Seine.

With a suave lighting, urban decor and, of course, un comptoir (a bar) serving hip cocktails and wine by the glass, Rive is very much of-the -moment, as popular Parisian bistros today.

Rive Bistro, with it's scenic setting, and welcoming staff, is our spot for a reunion of friends. We enjoy the luncheon entrees, especially the shrimp and avocado salad. An impromptu birthday celebration culminated with a delicious slice of coconut cake.

To be honest immediately following Covid my wife and I felt the service and food was a little sketchy. However the last couple of times we have visited it has been a wonderful experience. The food, service and ambience is excellent. We had brunch with a friend this Sunday and it was relaxed, fun and delicious. Appetizer, main course, desert and drinks all delicious.

The Brie appetizer and the chicken with mustard sauce was delicious. The mash potatoes were phenomenal! The service at the bar was excellent.

Rive Bistro never disappoints!! The food and service were outstanding. It is my favorite restaurant to go to!! One of the nicest things is that they never rush you. What a great place to put you in the holiday spirit!!

The owner/Hostess is warm and welcoming. The view of the river is beautiful. I went for Brunch, and I had the croissant and egg sandwich with greens. Everything was perfect. My guest had the omelet of the day (sorry, I cannot remember what was in it), but she said the balance of flavors was perfect. The coffee was rich and flavorful. I highly recommend it.
