   We loved our dinner at River and Woods. The house it’s located in is old and cozy. The service was excellent. The person who greeted us at the host stand was friendly and funny. Our server, Virginia, had only been working at the restaurant for a few days but did a fantastic job. The special challah bread with lavender butter that she recommended was delicious. We also enjoyed the artichoke hearts. For entrees, our table had the trout, sides of mashed potatoes, veggie burger, roasted sweet potatoes, and chicken Caesar salad. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. We ended with the churros for dessert. What a great experience—food and service. Highly recommend.

   Food was good but not great. The French fries were listed as salted and seasoned and appeared to be frozen crinkle cut fries with no salt or seasoning at all. Apps were very good. Polenta fries, bacon wrapped dates and deviled eggs. Service started off to be not great but got better as our dinner progressed The burger was okay but nothing special in any manner. The other dishes we had , gnocchi, short ribs and cassoulet were better. We were seated outside in the tent and the temperature varied greatly from comfortable to cold throughout our meal.

   River and Woods never disappoints. As always, the service was outstanding. The challah with whipped lavender butter was a delicious start to our meal, and we even had enough leftovers to make French toast the following morning.

    Celebrated two birthdays and they brought out yummy chocolate mousse with candles at the end of the meal. Sweet, homey feel with low lighting. Service was outstanding.
