Review summary

Roast offers a quintessential English dining experience, perfectly located above Borough Market. With "delicious food from the freshest of ingredients," it's a haven for those seeking a refined ambiance. While service can be hit or miss, "excellent breakfast choices" and a "fantastic Sunday roast" keep patrons coming back.

The food was lovely but the service was really awful . We arrived couple of minutes late . Apologised to the front of house receptionist . Who was beyond rude . Don’t think she wanted to be at work last night at all . No good evening greeting or anything . We asked to store our many shopping bags but was told there was no room , first come first served . The manager finally was called who said we could put our shopping in a table near where we were seated. We ordered 4 drinks only 1 arrived and we had to ask 3 times for the remaining 3 . To be told the table next to us just placed a large order . They were however all drinking their cocktails so not sure what the hold up was . My glass had a huge crack down it and when I pointed it out it as removed from the bill . Will we be returning no sorry

We went in November- the setting - gorgeous Christmas- the place exploded with decorations ( in a tasteful good way)! The food was spot- on fantastic- my BF and I had the Beef Wellington- done to perfection- all the sides were great, especially the mashed potatoes and brussels. Our server was a little lack luster in service, but other servers were more than willing to accommodate. Totally worth going for Sunday Roast.

Very disappointed as only heard good things, and wanted to go. Ordered 2 medium roast beef, both came bloody, I asked if mine could go back which it did and I got a well done one, waiter noticed and came over and said he would change, 3rd time lucky and after my husband had eaten half his it finally came out perfect,. The only veg served with the roast is 1 carrot.. We also had a bottle of wine which was in a bucket with others and was offered to another table, thankfully the other table realised it wasn’t there’s. Was hoping for 5* food and service but unfortunately didn’t get either!

Ordered the scotch egg but it wasn’t runny as it should have been, Sunday roast beef was lovely although I did think a little pricey and only one carrot! Not enough veg or had to order as a side , I think when you’re paying £38 for a roast you could give more than one carrot. It was very nice and I thought where we sat was lovely over looking the market , however I did find this part of the restaurant very dark of we hadn’t have been over looking the market it wouldn’t have been the best for me.
