About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Lively
  • Good for groups
Rumi's Kitchen first opened more than a decade ago in Atlanta, the result of years of development by Chef / Owner Ali Mesghali. Showcasing the flavors of Iran -- fresh herbs, kabobs cooked over an open-fire grill -- quickly won loyal guests at the original location in Sandy Springs, GA and set us on pace to open our first restaurant outside of Georgia in 2020. Rumi was a 13th-century Persian poet whose words and life teach us how to find inner peace, happiness and love. We invite you to Rumi’s Kitchen where fresh, healthy food and attentive Persian hospitality await you.

Vibes were immaculate and the food and service was very good, especially for DC. Koobideh was delicious and so was the lamb hummus!

Rumi's Sandy Spring was one of our favorites when we lived in Atlanta and were delighted to learn they opened a DC location. It did not disappoint. Our party of 7 had a wonderful evening. The dolmeh, eggplant appetizers and lamb kebab with the raisin/lentil rice were particularly delicious.

I spoke with our server/waiter to give the check to me , because I had four guest out of town, but she delivered the check to my guests. Can you believe that how embarrassing it is !! when I asked why you did such a aufful thing, thing, she just shrugged and said, “Oh, I thought they were paying.” No apology, no acknowledgment of the awkwardness she caused. It completely undermined my intention to treat them and made the whole situation unnecessarily uncomfortable. I couldn’t believe the lack of professionalism.

First time at Rumi’s. Hope to go back in the future if only for dessert… we were very interested but had no more room in our stomachs. Our server was Richard. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to my party which had severe food allergy. Highly recommend for a nice dinner!
