   Service was great. Started out with drinks. Ordered a lemon drop that was not well made.. was not very cold and you could not taste the alcohol in the martini. Secondly, apparently specials are no longer offered as they have gone with a new chef and a simplified menu . Both my husband and I ordered the beef short ribs. They were dry and tough. Both my husband and I left most of it uneaten. We have really enjoyed this restaurant in the past and to be honest this meal was a disappointment.

   I absolutely loved the food at Sam and Luca. We got there on Monday to celebrate my bf's bday and got the Prime Rib Special which came with prime rib, potatoes, green beans and a Caesar salad. It was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We also had bruschetta and it was yummy! I got the clam linguine and it was bomb. Service and ambiance was impeccable. Thanks to our server Kyle who was so kind too. I also got a Moscato and it was a delicious drink. Overall, had a fantastic time. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.

   My husband and I dined at Sam and Luca for the first time today. We now have found our new favorite Italian restaurant! My husband ordered lasagna and I ordered shrimp scampi. It is the best Italian food we have had in a long time. Almost more important than an excellent meal is the level of service. We could not have been more pleased! Our server, B, was exceptional. When she learned it was our first time there, she made us feel welcome and was very attentive taking time to explain the menu, happy hour and specials. B was training a young lady, Sylvia. It was Sylvia’s first night working at the restaurant. However, it was obvious she had previous experience as a server. If you are looking for a dining experience that offers quality food, nice atmosphere and exceptional customer service, I highly recommend Sam and Luca! We are looking forward to returning soon!

   This was our first visit, but not our last! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt like we were regulars. We were welcomed, we chatted and laughed, were given menus and specials, and the meal was paced perfectly. Started with lightly breaded calamari that was tender, not chewy (only minor complaint-- we requested a bit more marinara sauce to finish the calamari and were charged $2 for it) and then split a fine Caesar salad. Entrees? My Italian husband had the best lasagna he's ever eaten! He said he felt a bit like he was cheating because we have our fave Italian place on our side of the Valley that he loves, loves, loves. And he still does. However, this lasagna is in a completely different class! I ordered chicken piccata that was divine with just the right amount of lemon, served over a not-heavy fettucine alfredo. Dessert was lemon chiffon cake that melted in our mouths! I added a limoncello martini that was so light and refreshing I could have drunk a pitcher! The wait staff, from busboys to owner, were johnny-on-the spot, friendly, and helpful. We decided the service, ambiance, and food are well worth the hour trip to Mesa at least once a month!

   I sat at the bar and had outstanding service, and the food was great. The bartender did a great job. He was attentive, but not overly so. He checked in with all his guests and he was professional and thoughtful. Ordered the meatball appetizer and the Caprese salad and brought things home, all food was fresh and tasted great
