Overall it was good. Just didn’t like that they didn’t even try to fulfill my request. Asked about my seating request and was denied only to see other people get seated specifically where I had requested. Thankfully the food was good but defeated the purpose of why we chose to go there in the first place.

San Pedro Fish Market Long Beach basically is a moderately priced volume fish restaurant. I found it to be uninspiring. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It arrived in a cardboard container, not on a plate. There were no condiments on the table. If you want salt, pepper, or ketchup you must request them. Much of what they sell is farmed, e.g., the tilapia and shrimp. The fresh water farmed raised tilapia is used in numerous dishes which usually use salt water caught fish. Unless it is prepared in an interesting way, tilapia is basically very bland. Sadly San Pedro Fish Market does not prepare its tilapia so that it has any taste. Also the fish tacos use the very same battered fried tilapia as the fish and chips, just put in a flour taco. The service staff was subobtimal. I had to ask several times to get tableware. The price was reasonable considering what you get. Alas, you are not getting very much.

It was already crowded when we arrived a little early for our rez (at about 5:30) and now we know to plan accordingly! That said, we elected to sit in the bar and got AMAZING service and it was actually a little bit quieter and a better view! We ordered several Happy Hour foods (and bev's!) and I got Fish Sandwich which was SO GOOD, it was almost like it was desert - it was THAT SPECIAL. (Very flaky, non-fishy-tasting, DELICATE and MOIST, on a FRESH Bun!) WOW! Not a "fish" person (My husband is!), but this restaurant keeps getting better and better and I just may have to become a convert as I LOVE their food!

Asked for a better table because I felt it would be too small, and it was! Host did not want to accommodate us, having tables available. 15 min later another family arrived and asked for a different table and were accommodated. I didn't want to be confrontational because it was my wife's bday but I have no problem doing so. Waited too long for our drinks also!!
