Food was good. Service was great, the ambience was just a little off. Very busy, loud so it was hard to have a conversation, really sort of pretentious vibes. We have been there before and the first time was a much better, chill experience. We will try it again just during a slower night.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Definitely Not Worth the Hype or Price I had high hopes for Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey in Palm Springs, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a major letdown. This place felt like Ralph’s sushi on steroids—confused, overpriced, and far from premium. First of all, they list themselves as a “$$” restaurant on OpenTable, but this is completely misleading. Prices were sky-high—this place should absolutely be marked $$$$ instead. For what we paid, I expected something close to NoBu quality. Spoiler: it was nowhere near. I’ve dined at NoBu Indian Wells with a party of six and spent about $500. At Sandfish, the tab was just as steep, but the quality didn’t even come close. I ordered a wide variety of dishes—definitely not being cheap here. I wanted to try everything. Sadly, about half the food went untouched. The kids hated it, and the adults weren’t fans either. To be fair, the sashimi was fresh—it wasn’t old or fishy—but everything else was just… mid. Not bad enough to be spoiled, just bland and unimpressive. And at this price point, that’s unacceptable. On top of all this, the service left a bad taste. Our server failed to mention that a 20% service charge for large parties was already added to the bill. Then she handed me the tablet and asked if I wanted to tip—so I added an extra 18%, not realizing I had already been charged a gratuity. That’s dishonest or careless, either way not cool. The food quality is fantastic! However, the pricing feels a bit steep compared to many other sushi spots of the same caliber across the U.S. The service matches the expected standard for this price range. One heads-up: the outdoor container dining areas, while creative, tend to trap the desert heat with their metal walls, and the noise bounces around. Might want to bring some ear protection—just kidding, but it does get pretty loud!

overpriced, least pleasurable customer service in palm springs. everyone was so nice elsewhere. did not let me do the omakase at 815 even though i was by myself and the restaurant was empty.

Food was super disappointing ! Lacked flavor and overpriced- the Cones were a take on French Laundry that failed in every possible way. Best part of meal was the miso soup. Ambiance and service was amazing!
