The name “Sassella” comes from a hamlet of 60 residents known for its vineyards near where Chef Cristian Pontiggia grew up.

In addition to working at two Michelin Star restaurants in Europe, Lombardy native Chef Cristian Pontiggia has received several awards from La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international gastronomic society. The Italian government recognizes him as a Master Chef, and he holds a culinary degree that certifies him as a Doctor of Enogastronomy.

                                  Service was excellent, food also excellent, bartender very informative and friendly. Only downsides, slight sewer gas smell near restrooms. And espresso has a perfume fragrance and taste to it. Very odd, I'm Italian so I know about these things. Waiter investigated and couldn't find any reason for the taste and smell he also experienced.

                                  Sat in the bar for drinks and appetizers. Were there early evening and staff was still doing bar inventory as if we weren't there -- which detracted from the experience. Shared a lovely salad and to appetizers, along with very tasty cocktails -- selected from a remarkable gin selection. We will return.

                                  Very creative, unique, and delicious options although pricey. We were glad that they allowed us to split courses so that we could enjoy antipasti, primi, and secondi without feeling that we were overeating. Pear appetizer is especially unique and flavorful. Lobster risotto very taste. Sea bass was very smooth and flavorful. Pecan pie dessert seemed more like pumpkin pie with pecans on top; was the only weak point.

                                  My favorite restaurant. Though it’s an expensive restaurant and one I reserve for a special occasion( Today’s visit being Thanksgiving ), I’m never disappointed. The menu, the individual ingredients, the presentation and preparation are impeccable. The entire staff from head chef to busboy are personable, polite and professional. I recommend anyone visiting Santa Fe to stop in and experience the incredible Italian cuisine of Sassella!
