We frequent Scomas and always has had a good experience. Food is very good, ambiance is nostalgic and servers and front staff has always been very pleasant and respectful. Last night was a nightmare!!!! WE sat at the bar at first and ordered Grey goose martinis for me and my wife, and a negroni for her nice from the bar man who was nice. Ww were then taken to our favorite seat in the bar area upstairs to be served our dinner. Then the nightmare began with this woman server that we've never seen before. She accused my wife of being intoxicated after drinking half her martini. She took her glass a quarter full and was told that she cannot be served another drink. My wife is a light weight when it comes to cocktails, she get very happy and a bit silly especially last night because she was excited to share our experience at Scoma's with her niece. We're not sure what triggered this woman to judge my wife of being intoxicated. Then the manager came by the name of Patrick who also told my wife that she's intoxicated. We were jus shocked of these peoples accusation. The bar man also came to our table to ask if we paid our tab ??? That was the last straw.. I told him I left him a $20 tip so then he remembered and he said its all ok. At this time we were frozen and thought we would't be able to eat the foods that we ordered. We proceeded to leaved, then Patrick the manager began. apologizing and ask that we stay and he will comp our dinner and be moved to a different area. I believe the staff at the front recognized us from two nights ago and told the manager that we're ok. My wife was also needing help to walk and go up and down the stairs because she has a broken right shoulder waiting for surgery next month. Perhaps because she needed help to walk was assumed that she's intoxicated ? Not sure if we'll be back, we like this restaurant and the other staff members, but if we are faced with this woman server again , I think my wife will cry ..

Although we had reservations, there was still a wait, (on a Sunday afternoon) but we enjoyed sitting at the bar with a lovely Bloody Mary during the wait time. We eventually were seated at a corner table in the upstairs bar, which was fine. Food, as always, was delicious and service was attentive without being intrusive. Definitely worth the wait and cost, which is in-line with other fine dining around the Bay.

Love coming here. All was great yesterday for a birthday dinner with my family. One exception was that the shellfish in my dish was room temperature, but did not send it back as it would have been overcooked.
