Located in Historic City Point, New Haven, Connecticut, Shell and Bones Oyster Bar & Grill occupies a space that has been a legendary restaurant location for decades. Daniel Kay along with partners Marc Knight and Robert Bolduc (of Geronimo Bar & Grill) completely remodeled the restaurant. Its design pays homage to the areas nautical history while offering a light and airy space with clean lines, amazing water views, ocean breezes and a fireplace for those chilly nights.
To complete the package the trio has brought in award-winning Executive Chef Arturo Franco Camacho (Franco). Franco is a veteran of the CT food scene whose extensive repertoire spans from Chef de Cuisine on the QE2 to opening several of his own successful restaurants (Roomba, Bespoke and Suburban).
At Shell & Bones the focus is on seafood and steak utilizing fresh & sustainable ingredients. We have both indoor and outdoor dining (weather permitting) and can accommodate private parties and corporate events.

                                                                                                  Unfortunately our waiter didn’t show so ours was handling the entire porch and couldn’t keep up. I was disappointed in my dinner as well. The Icelandic Cod, usually delish, had an overpowering flavor that wasn’t good. I was disappointed.

                                                                                                  Our server was Christine and she was wonderful. She knew the menu and about the preparation. She was great with recommendations and very attentive. The New England Clam Chowder was filled with clams and potatoes. Broth was delicious. The lobster roll was delicious and so was the lobster butter that came with it. The Crab Cake BLT was very tasty. We loved the Ricotta donuts. The pomegranate cocktail, which was a special, was perfect. It was a beautiful sunny day to be on the water and forget how cold it was. Great lunch.

The scallops were delicious, but the lentils were undercooked. It is an off day for a place that is usually consistent. I'll definitely give them another try.

We enjoyed the options and lobster were not over cooked but a bit smaller than the 1.5LB as expected. Service was adequate.

Our server was Tiffani, and she was personable, knowledgeable, and always available. We even had a manager drop by to offer insights and suggestions on dessert. Will be back soon.

                                                                                                  Excellent food in a lovely setting. Winter at Shell and Bones is even nicer than Summer on the deck there. A cosy fire and welcoming service made this a great choice for us. It wasn’t too busy on a Wednesday evening so noise levels were very low but it seems to have great acoustics anyway, which is a plus to be able to hear your companions!

                                                                                                  Overall, excellent food and service. We had the Bouillabaisse and the clams with linguine. Both were good. Apps were salad and the clam chowder. Again both excellent. Service was very good and paced our dinner the way I ask. The apps came out really fast even though the restaurant was packed. So,I asked to slow down the entrees which wasn't a problem. The drinks were really well done - bartenders are well trained. Prices are a bit higher but worth it. The ambience inside is really nice - the restaurant has a great beat. We were on the heated enclosed porch by a window away from the two heaters. It was not comfortable so we asked to be moved to an adjacent table which better. Still I would have rather been inside.
