   We were quite disappointed. The restaurant itself seems run down with a misfit of furniture in what was an elegant setting at one time. Our first dish, egg drop soup, was cold and appeared to be scrambled eggs in chicken bouillon. It was served for 2 in a medium size bowl with a tablespoon for us to serve ourselves. When I complained the server who was nice seemed inexperienced and didn’t understand why this was a problem. Our second dish beef broccoli was good. Overall, very mediocre and not comparable to higher quality Chinese restaurants in the area.

   Excellent service and delicious food. Nice portion sizes. I ordered the Sling for $18. Very tasty but it was mostly ice. It cost as much as my meal. Beautiful interior however the movie theater size tv screen was off putting for me.

   What a great way to celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year. The food was superb, ambience was incredible and the service was also excellent (though I had to track down the team a couple of times as we were seated in a private room !).. We will be back !

   After reading about the chef and his experience, I would have expected more. The fried rice was very good, and the dumplings good, other dishes were just average. At the posted prices I was hoping for more inspired food.

   Very disappointing experience. We arrived as a couple of two having made an earlier reservation. We were seated relatively quickly but thats when it started going downhill. About 10 minutes passed before a waiter attended to us. We quickly ordered 2 cocktails, two appetizers and their special roast duck two course dinner. And then the waiting .. About 10 minutes later the first appetizer arrives. No drinks yet. Another 10 minutes go by and my drink arrives but not my wife's. We asked what the delay was and the manager who brought my drink asked us again what was my wife's drink? We are now 20 minutes later and they didn't know what my wife ordered for drink. The second appetizer arrives. We finished the first and ate half of the second appetizer before finally my wife gets her drink (both drinks were from their menu so nothing special). Once we were done with our appetizers we started the second waiting game. About 15 minutes after finishing appetizers and just waiting! Finally our first course arrives. And it was disappointing! Sliced roast duck serviced slightly warm (almost room temperature) and a lot of saugy pieces! Not what I was hoping for. Nevertheless, we eat it and we finish it! 20 additional minutes after we finished the first course we ask the manager: what happened to our second course? It was at the point that we have had it. We asked for the check and told them that we wanted to leave and we are not going to wait for the second course anymore! The manager oppologized and tried to convince us to take it home but we refused! He then rushed back and quickly came out with the second course in his hand and we still refused and demanded a check! We paid the full price minus 20 percent discount that the manager told us he was able to offer us for our inconvenience! (Despite eating only half of our $88 dollar main meal). I paid, left zero tip and thanked him for a bad evening. We are never going again and never recommending this to anyone

   Another superb evening of fine Chinese dining.... ShiangMI is probably one of the nicest authentic Chinese restaurants in the Midwest. We had pan fried dumplings, roast duck (2 courses, relatively new add to the menu), happy family soup, pork belly stew, mongolian beef and general tao's chicken.. Every course was excellent. However, the timing of when courses are served can use some improvement... I did confirm that dumplings will come out first, then the soup, then the 2 duck courses then the rest.... but it happened quite in reverse where soup came out last, duck courses came out 2nd to last... A bit frustrating and hopefully, the kitchen can improve upon it. The reason for understanding course sequence is we were doing a wine pairing... Oh well.. First world problems.... We will definitely be back !

    Our party of 4 was pleasantly surprised to be seated in one of the main floor private rooms on Christmas Eve as the dining room was full. With the included 20% tip, our total bill was just under $400. We started with crab rangoon, soup dumplings, and pan fried dumplings - all were terrific! Then we ordered one bowl of the hot & sour soup, which easily fed all 4 of us - delicious with a delayed heat factor. We then had to try the shrimp spring rolls - very good! For entrees, we had the steamed basa fillet, which was melt-in-your-mouth, beautifully presented, and so good! We rounded that out with veggie fried rice, which was a huge portion that we couldn't finish - I'd say that could've fed at least 6 people, and the signature pork belly. All dishes are served for sharing with the fish and pork belly served in dishes with tea lights beneath. Just beautifully done all around! Highly recommend.
