Having always been at the heart of Valley life, the 17th century Shibden Mill Inn was originally a corn and spinning mill, before being converted into a country pub in 1890.

Today’s visitors are welcomed with warm hospitality to enjoy first class dining against an inviting backdrop of open fires, low beamed ceilings and a cosy bar. Eleven individually styled bedrooms make comfortable and luxurious retreats, epitomising boutique country style and featuring lots of thoughtful touches.

And if you can drag yourself away from the Inn, there are wonderful walks from the doorstep and world class attractions within easy reach. For a spot of retail therapy or a cultural fix, Halifax is a 10-minute drive and Leeds is just 30 minutes away.

The food is lovely but the price can be a little on the high side - £14 or so for three crispy mussels and a bit of stonebass seemed a bit over the top for a starter but it was very, very good and we were looking for something a bit special. On the whole, it was a very, very positive experience. It was a return visit, and we will go back.

Beautifully cooked, very well presented food, good choices of wine pairings, understated but friendly, well informed service. Only complaint was that the quantity was so generous we didn't have room for dessert. Hearty doesn't do it justice.

Excellent pie of the day (partridge Brie and?) and my wife’s cod was perfect. Staff were attentive without being overbearing and the pub itself is delightful. We’ll be back.

Excellent food in a lovely, traditional but stylish room with great service. Very enjoyable - a little expensive compared to other restaurants but probably a realistic price to maintain such high standards. Too many places close because they don't charge enough to maintain the business.

Excellent from start to finish! A very warm welcome, service attentive but not too much, food was superb (gluten free menu available too), good choice available, lighting great, comfortable & great atmosphere.
