A modern American restaurant in Navy Yard where Executive Chef Reid Shilling serves his take on seasonal cuisine highlighting ingredients from around the Chesapeake region. Experiences include a 7-course tasting menu (served exclusively at the Chef's Counter), a 3-course prix fixe menu, an a la carte menu, and a weekend brunch menu.

The 7-course tasting menu is seasonally driven and changes regularly offering guests a front-row seat to the open kitchen. Enjoy an expansive offering of Chef Reid Shilling’s regularly changing culinary creations and seasonally-inspired dishes, all prepared with a hyper-local approach to sourcing. The Navy Yard is know for fine dining, and I expected SCC to be good, but good does not capture how great the entire experience was. We tried several appetizers, and they all set the stage for the main course. The Sea Bass and seasonal Crab Cakes were nothing short of phenomenal. From the time we arrived, we were catered to like we were VIPs. If you are at the Navy Yard and looking for the highest quality food, SCC is a must! We look forward to our next visit.

This restaurant was clearly having some process issues. The ambiance was nice and when the food was finally delivered it was tasty and creative but this is the only good thing I can say. It took over one hour to get our main course delivered. To fill the gap, we ordered a second round of drinks but it took them fifteen minutes to deliver them. The table next to us arrived at the same time as us. Because they complained, they got a visit from the manager, an apology and a discount coupon. We got nothing.

This was my second time at Shilling Canning. The service is excellent from the time you enter until the time you leave. The food was fair. It was fresh, but it lacked flavor/bland and was lukewarm when it arrived. Overall, the service, environment and ambience was excellent.
