Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Singapulah offers an authentic taste of Singapore in London's heart. Known for its "excellent food," particularly the laksa and nasi lemak, the restaurant combines rich flavors with a bustling atmosphere. While some note the space is tight and prices high, many appreciate the "friendly service" and nostalgic menu.

Today was my dad's 85th birthday, and one guest had travelled from Swansea just to join us for lunch. Having tried three times previously to dine here and always being turned away at 12pm, I was delighted that they had introduced a booking system. We ordered 2 small plates and 4 main meals which was too much for us. But we really enjoyed eating everything and it was almost like being back in Singapore. My parents didn't have anything negative to say. We have Nasi Lemak in other places so this seemed slightly above average. But the Char Kway Teo and Bak Chor Mee were much better than other places and we've not found anywhere else that has Bak Chor Mee which is one of my dad's favourites. The wonton mee was probably the least popular but our English friend seemed to really enjoy it so it was a success too. The waitress that served us was very friendly and very obliging taking photos a few times. I believe the manager also came over to speak to my parents and they joked saying he should open the door early when it's cold outside, even if they don't actually start serving so maybe we'll see that in December as we have a good friend arriving from Singapore to spend December in London and he is aware of this restaurant via The Straits Times.

For £146 the food was way below average. Very disappointed.

Quite delicious. Lovely staff and service. Competitively priced. I want to go back and try all their other dishes. Ground floor a bit noisy and draughty. Basement and 1st floor cosier.

We ordered three dishes to share- Char Kway Teow, Singapore Laksa and Sambal Seafood Fried Rice and Kung Pie Tee as starter. Didn’t have time for desert as the time is up. More diners are arriving so we have to vacate our table.

When we arrived we were hit by the aromatic, mouthwatering smells of the restaurant. We arrived 15 minutes earlier than planned and the staff were very accommodating, there was a little confusion to where we were sitting, first we were told our table was upstairs then when we went upstairs we were told it was downstairs. The staff were very apologetic. The table we received was comfortable and adequately spaced from other tables. There was a chilly draft however when ever the restaurant doors were opened. We order the fried crab Bao, Char kway teow and the nasi lemak ayam goreng. Fried crab Bao: so delicious! Never experienced fried Bao, it worked very well. The bao itself had a wonder crispy exterior and beautiful chew to it. The filling was scrumptious and well seasoned. Char kway teow: The Char kway teow was a little disappointing, the Prawns were good, the chinese sausage so-so, noodles were good and had a nice chew to them. However the dish was heavily salted with perhaps too much dark Soy sauce. Nasi lemak ayam goreng: The highlight of the show! The chicken was coated in the most delicately crispy, well seasoned batter, and most importantly the chicken was done to perfection, not dry at all! The combination of the chicken, sambal, peanuts, anchovies, rice and the running fried egg with a crispy outside ring will be something I won't forget for awhile. The waiter that served us - I believe his name was Han. Han Was great at his job, always with a smile on his face, very welcoming, and regularly checked on our wellness. I'll definitely recommend this place if you're craving Malay food. I'll be coming back for sure!

Unfortunately not the most authentic Singaporean food. The Kueh pie tee starter was very bland. The Peranakan Assam Prawns were tastier and had a nice spice kick, but overall a disappointing experience compared to other nearby restaurants serving similar cuisine.

We almost did not come back to Singapullah after the last time when we queued for 1 hour and got the tiniest table, and then when we didn't ASK for it got the bill... We are glad we gave it another chance. What a difference taking reservations has made - so much more relaxed and no waiting outside in the cold. So tonight we had very nice service and a very nice meal - the chili crab sauce was perhaps a bit rich for my liking, but husband liked the nasi lemak. Confusion though - why is there no standard gula melaka rather than gula melaka 'affogato'(??) And.....they brought the bill again when we didn't ASK for it, and then we waited half an hour to pay so they obviously didn't need the table back right away. Please, please, unless your customers are evidently outstaying their welcome, which we weren't, DON'T bring the bill unless you are asked to, and BEFORE you do, have the politesse to ask the customers if they want anything else...? It's good manners, after all!
