Skull Creek Dockside Restaurant, dropped its anchor in the Fall of 2017 and forever changed the culinary landscape of the Lowcountry. In early 2017 the partners of the restaurant began to transform it into their vision for Hilton Head's newest waterfront dining destination. This restaurant, which resembles an old-style river house, is full of authentic architecture, reclaimed wood, and nautical accents that leave you feeling like you've stepped into a Melville novel. The sweeping waterfront view is showcased by full pane glass windows throughout the restaurant which you can enjoy no matter where you dine. The covered patio dining area, and massive outdoor bar, the shark bar, allows patrons to enjoy the Lowcountry climate and serve to further highlight the amazing sunset views over skull creek. If you are concerned about long wait times, the good news is the restaurant accepts reservations and provides a family recreation area between dockside and boathouse. Kids and adults can enjoy a variety of games, the very popular shark bar and 'shrimp boat' playground. Kids can play while families are waiting for a table, or simply enjoying the amazing waterfront views.

                                                                          Hostess Staff Still Incompetent — Nothing Has Changed We had a 7:30 reservation and arrived 10 min early only to be told our table wasn’t ready. Understandable on a busy night — until we stood to the side and watched the hostess staff repeatedly seat other parties while ignoring us completely. After 30 minutes, a different staff member finally noticed us and offered a high-top table outside as a consolation. 10 minutes after that, we received a phone call from the hostess station asking if we were planning to show up for our reservation. I told them we checked in 40 min ago and someone already seated us. Frustratingly, this disorganized mess was nearly identical to the experience we had here last year. It’s the same incompetent hostess team — nothing has improved. The front-of-house staff seems untrained, scattered, and simply not up to the basic task of managing a reservation system. The food was good, and our waitress did a great job, but unfortunately, it’s not enough to make up for the poor first impression and unnecessary aggravation. When the start of your evening feels like being forgotten, it sets the tone — and not in a good way.

                                                                          Mid at best for food. Service is great, but can’t make up for the food quality. My baked grouper was so dry the sauce didn’t help at all. Wife’s filet was over cooked since she request medium rare and the “Oscar” was horrible. The view is great.

                                                                          Another great meal at Skull Creek Dockside. It’s become a family tradition returning every year. Reservations are a must unless you don’t mind waiting for an hour or more. If you end up waiting, I promise it will be worth it! We had scallops, King Crab legs, and seafood pasta. All were delicious. The service was a bit slow but understandable because they were packed. We also had key lime pie and warm bourbon pecan pie for dessert. This morning the comment was made that we should have brought extra home for breakfast! If you want great fresh food in a relaxed atmosphere, then Skull Creek Dockside is the place to go. And definitely try their pimento cheese grits!!
