We enjoyed a very relaxed lunch. The staff were extremely attentive and we didn’t feel rushed at all. The food was, as always very good. I requested a table by the window because it was a special lunch with my cousin and my request was granted.

Pretty poor. Starters delivered immediately after cocktails and bits. One of the strater inedible. Raw beetroot in large lumps covered in parmesan but no dressing. Truly awful. Other starter, prawn cocktail, all lettuce and hardly any prawns or mayo. One main course, fairly ordinary. Steak main course: order rare got heavily overcooked. Sent back. No desert, had enough.

For me, the real test is, 'Would I go back again' The honest answer is no. The ambiance was fine and the seating arrangements good. The waiters were prompt, professional and we had no complaints there, but the food was mediocre for the price. The starters were OK, but nothing really stood out with any of our party. 2 of our group of 6 ordered lamb curry, and they had to be returned due to the excessive amount of salt added. To be fair, the 2 replacement dishes weren't charged for, but it really shouldn't happen in an upmarket restaurant. The plates of sweets added after the meal were a nice touch.

I have been to the Skylon before and this was a special occasion. Professionally a tough year and a celebration of breaking up for the Xmas break. We did not have a dedicated waiter, and I think this is why we struggled to get served. We were there for 3 hrs and 15 mins. Not because of our choosing that is how long it took to get our food. As soon as we finished desert we left. The pumpkin soup and smoke salmon starter amazing. The bread was very nice. The steak tartare was the worst I have ever had, I would avoid. The hake, the grilled thyme chicken were delicious but the turkey dinner was very average, the vegetables were very hard, the roast potatoes were cold, spongy and did not appear fresh. Ambience, the views super lovely….. I just think having a dedicated waiter would make the experience so much nicer. We obviously paid the service charge but in truth - skylon is a restaurant for special occasions and this experience felt flat and dissapointing. I went for my birthday in August and the experience was so much better, maybe it was a staffing issue, maybe it was just busy I don’t know….but I feel a little embarrassed as I took a my husband and a special friend as a pre- Xmas treat and I had bigged up the skylon and I know they won’t say anything to me but it was not what they expected I could tell. For this reason I paid all of the bill.

6 of us went for lunch before Christmas, 5 ordered a la carte 1 set menu. The portions were all small and tiny for the vegetarian main courses. Soup came without bread, main courses were more the size of a starter with the exception of the turkey roast. A standard bottle of white wine £38, nice surroundings but shrinkflation gone mad
