City Center at Bishop Ranch presents the Smooth Jazz Series for Saturday evenings of July 12th, 19th and 26th. The Slanted Door will be featuring a $70.00 per person, 3 course menu on our patio. Reservations at 5pm include limited VIP seating in front of the stage (first 38 guests only, please contact restaurant for confirmation of VIP seat availability once booked). Reservations at 6:45pm will be sat on our patio behind the stage. Music is clearly audible. Beverages, tax and gratuity are not included. Our a la carte/regular menu will be available for inside dining.

I was a tad surprised at the austerity of this location( this was our first time here as we have eaten multiple times in San Francisco). Some plants or large flower arrangements would go far for the ambiance of this location. The food was terrific and the drinks were delicious. My biggest gripe of the meal was the fact that our female server constantly attended and served my male companion before myself, a female. I see this as a training issue and truly expect better for this price point of a restaurant.

We had a great meal. My was was vegetarian so we ended up eating a bunch of starters and for the cauliflower, the ended up removing 1 thing. It was all great! We’re coming again.

We had read in SF Chronicle their cellophane noodles with crab was a good way to experience Dungeness crab. So we made the trek from Berkeley. Just a limited amount of crab flakes/ shreds for $34. We asked that papaya salad exclude chili seasoning, and as result was tame. Best dish was cauliflower with some slivers of pork sausage. Had to order claypot chicken to get real protein. Bill thus pricey for two. The Austrian white wine Grüner Veltliner went perfectly with the food. Service was a bit slow from 7-9 pm on a Sat. If your seat faces the plate glass windows, you watch mall strollers coming & going.

We went to the Slanted Door for a birthday celebration. It was our first time at this restaurant. It was an excellent experience. We started with appetizers. The stand out was the Banh Nam. The spring rolls were good but the Banh nam was really special. As main courses we had the grilled while fish- branzino and the shaking beef. Both were excellent but the grilled branzino was, hands down, the best preparation of that fish we have ever had. It is a delicate white fish and often overcooked. Not here! Perfectly cooked with subtle herbs contributing to this exceptional preparation. Some excellent drinks and wonderful desserts ( pot de crème and the basque style cheese cake) made it a birthday feast to remember.
