   We had a really great dinner Christmas Eve. We started with the baked oysters, the bread and sample apps. The oysters were cooked perfectly and the stiffing was tasty and added texture. The shrimp and oysters on the half shell were fresh and cold.the bread was warm and just enough. Out mains included a filet, beef stroganoff and scallops. Each dish was cooked as ordered. Of note was the stroganoff, which had a touch of spicy heat what was a pleasant surprise. Our server Jose was excellent, as were the cocktails and wine. Lastly, the Christmas decorations were simple and quite beautiful. We all had a great night! We will go back again (this was our second visit).

   Our family had Christmas dinner at SLAY and it was HORRIBLE from beginning to end. You would think one or two items would be good but No! It was all CRAP!!! The Parker rolls were cold and stale. The salad was just lettuce and dressing. literally lettuce in a bowl. The main course took forever to come out. The red sauce was so spicy and salty that the entrees were uneatable. I asked the manager and she just said "So what do you want me to do?" Eventually they remade one entree but it still tasted BAD. I would have thought for a Holiday SLAY would raise the bar a bit, maybe for Xmas? So an app, salad, two entrees, a side of pasta and two glasses of wine (both bad) came to $300. And it was all CRAP! The restaurant staff, chef and the manager could care less. I thought a high end place like SLAY should provide a positive dining experience, serve high-quality food, friendly service and make the customer feel valued and satisfied. None of this happened for Christmas. I guess the fish stinks from the head down and this fish surely stank. I can't recommend at all going to Slay for a Holiday meal never mind a regular meal. It was truly disgusting and a waste of time and money.

   I brought my kids who were home for the holidays, and everything was excellent from top to bottom - from the receptionist patiently working her magic to accommodate our changed schedule, to the wait staff ensuring we were taken care of, to the owner/chef checking in on us to ensure our experience and cuisine was up to snuff. It was and then some- it was exceptional. The martinis, shrimp cocktail, and squash blossoms were perfect ways to start the evening, followed by the lamb, sole, and Caesar salad with steak. It was a lively atmosphere and we enjoyed running into other families we knew. A special night at a special place :)
