About this restaurant

For the last 18 years, Joe Hennes and his wife Ellen have been building a family-oriented meeting place for friends to gather at Sloppy Joe's Saloon and Spoon in Hubertus. In December 2020, they purchased this property, and brought the philosophy of food, fun, and laughter from Washington County to Lake Country. They renamed the property Smoke on the Water to reflect the revamped menu which includes a large selection of home-smoked meat items. Open jams, live music, karaoke and fun events are already a regular part of the experience.

And after a decade of the lower level sitting vacant, they just launched "Below Deck," a brand new state of the art banquet facility and live music venue that accommodates about 250 people.

Whether arriving by land or sea, you'll enjoy Lake Country's best lake-vibe barbecue, cocktails, live music & friends.

    Dineen was excellent. very attentive. food was great especially the steak sandwich. Atmosphere could be improved. we sat inside in far corner by windows. There were dead flies on window ledge and flying around. there was also something dripping on me from the ceiling. I will come back but I will probably sit outside.

    Meh. Three of us ordered the brisket platter. Two of us noted that it was dry. Service was slow, but very courteous and friendly. Sides were good, but nothing memorable. I’m not sure if we’ll be back, but if we do go back we probably won’t order anything smoked.

    Was a bit frustrated that this is the second time we were there and could not be seated within 30 mins of our reservation time. We make reservations, we show up early. A few mins is of course understandable, but not 30. Our server was nice but dropped a glass and its contents on two of our guests (albeit an accident and she felt badly), and they didn’t have the beer I wanted nor the meatloaf (both on their menu). That said, overall it was a good meal, great view from the outside deck and we will try once more.

    We went there for the Chilean Sea Bass but I guess it has been eliminated for the summer. That was a disappointment, but all food ordered was good.

    Awesome atmosphere! I typically hate eating outdoors but Smoke on the Water is the exception. The view was beautiful. The food was pretty good. However, our server was god awful and seemed to be only paying attention to everyone around us. We were checked on every 30 minutes (being generous).
