   Took my elderly mother for a special lunch and they could not have been more attentive. We had the most delicious food and the place was cool and stylish but also comfortable. Excellent all round.

   Great experience. Friendly staff. Lovely food (we had researched in advance). Our high expectations were met. Delicious sharing plate and great dessert and coffee. Would definitely recommend.

   Great atmosphere, wonderful fresh fish caught by the restaurant, excellent wine list and fantastic cocktails. All served by happy, friendly and knowledgeable people.

   Really friendly and attentive service and lovely atmosphere. The food was incredible - the best we've had for a long time - Gurnard starter, Lobster main and awesome deserts. Also great gluten-free knowledge and flexibility for my wife - that's pretty rare! So overall a great experience - highly recommend - we'll be back as soon as we can!

   Regular diners at this excellent restaurant. Delicious food beautifully presented. Staff welcoming and efficient. Always a pleasure to dine at the Smoking Lobster.

    Admittedly Our visit was at the end of a 4 day Bank Holiday but it was pretty shambolic. Food was delivered to us before we had even ordered ; clearly other diners food. There was no obvious leadership , as in a Maitre D’, young fairly gormless waiting staff who trotted out lines like “you’re really welcome” or “how’s your food “ with nil sincerity and no idea of what they would do if they got a negative response. Duck roll starters were bland and tasteless, almost certainly out of a deep freeze pack . The tempura batter on the monkfish was unpleasant and doughy and only two modest goujons for a Main course costing £30 seemed very ungenerous. The Asian slaw was curling round the edges,looked and tasted 3-4 days old, almost as tired as the lettuce with dressing. All in all a meal to forget, which was a shame being a Birthday treat/outing , & £144 Bill was a long way from good value.

    Dear Chris, We are very sorry you had a bad experience. We did have a busy weekend however, this shouldn't affect the quality of what we deliver, or the service. We have talked as a team and spoke about how you seemed unhappy so they paid special attention making sure things were delivered efficiently after the till technical problem had been addressed to yourselves. With regards to the spring rolls, like all of our food they are made fresh rather than frozen, but should not have been bland. The tempura monkfish should not have been doughy, so I am very sorry this happened. We always do a check back on the table giving the customer the opportunity to discuss anything or for us to rectify any mistakes. We would love you to try us again, with an offer of a drink on arrival.
