We had a very disappointing experience at Sogno. Despite being seated fairly quickly, it took over 10 minutes just to be served water. Considering it was Christmas Day, we were understanding about delays, but the food took a long time to arrive—and when it finally did, it was cold. The presentation was poor, and the flavor was completely lacking. It wasn’t worth even half of what we paid. Additionally, the service was incredibly slow. Not only with us other tables around with same server were not happy. Our server barely paid attention to our table, neglected drink refills, and failed to address basic details. The men's restroom was also in terrible condition, with a non-functioning toilet. Overall, this experience was far below expectations. We won’t be returning.

Our dinner was wonderful. They even had a special feast of the seven fishes for Christmas Eve, which was delicious. The dish was a take on their excellent cioppino but with 7 types of fish. The broth was perfect to soak up with the excellent bread. There was also a keyboardist playing who was excellent and played at just the right level for the music to be enjoyable but not so loud as to hinder conversation. We had a wonderful meal.

Our party was really looking forward to eating here because of the majority of good reviews Philip, our server was good. He made an excellent espresso martini. However, some of the party had Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp which was the Chef’s specialty dish for the night. Only five shrimp were in the dish. So….for just a pasta dish and a few shrimp it was $38 which is exuberant. Others had Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The chicken was dry. Again exuberantly priced at $38. For two alcoholic drinks, a side salad ($14) and two main courses it was $150. We have had much better Fettuccine Alfredo at other Italian restaurants at a fair price. I don’t usually leave reviews, but in this case I felt I needed to.

After reading the positive reviews my fiancee and I were really excited. But we were quickly brought down to earth. Our server was not attentive and was kind of rude to other customers. The food was good, but nothing amazing that you can’t get at any other Italian restaurant, especially for what they charge. The restaurant itself was clean and decorated for the holidays. But overall I don’t see ourselves coming back.

We truly enjoyed everything about Sogno. We had a reservation for a party of 6. My husband and I arrived early and were immediately seated. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. From appetizers to entrees, great selection of fresh, well prepared food. We all enjoyed the atmosphere as well. We will definitely dine there again!

I classify Sogno as a hidden gem. What used to be a dive bar has been completely gutted and renovated. It's actually quite nice and decorated inside for the holidays. Let's start with the bread, nice and crusty out and soft and warm inside. Some of the best I have had in st Augustine. The calamari fritti appetizer has a nice kick to it and was delish. Our group order the following entres. All outstanding. Pan seared Cod, osso bucco, seared branzino, and veal Florentine. All were better than just quite tasty. The rigatoni filetta was a bit heavy and thick so not a dish I would order again. They have a full bar and some excellent wines to accompany your meal. And Yes, I would go back. A nice surprise on the other side of the Bridge of Lions.
