Disappointing and average in all respects. The restaurant was virtually empty (on a Friday night at 8pm!) and food was so so.

I had high hopes for Spice Mafia after hearing from friends that and been and seeing reviews online. Unfortunately I found that food was average especially considering the high prices. We ordered poppadums for 4 people and they were miniature ones which lacked the crispness you would expect. Also the dips did not have much spice/heat compared to most Indian restaurants. The starters came fairly quickly and were good but I thought the portion sizes were very small. We waited around an hour for the main dishes to arrive and when they did I was unimpressed with the presentation and was disappointed that they didn't have more spice/chilli. The flavours we're good but I would expect a dish described as 'medium' to be a little hotter. The quality of the lamb was really good however and I enjoyed it. We went on a Saturday night so maybe they were too busy to cope but I won't return unless there was some kind of promotion. There are better alternative nearby in Urmston.

We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed the food and service. So much so that we have recommended it to friends and family. However on our latest visit the occasion was spoilt by poor service. Whilst I appreciate the restaurant was busy, it is no excuse for poor service. Although we did not order a starter, we waited one hour and ten minutes for our food. Having waited for so long for our food we ordered a second round of drinks, which never arrived. I noted that the staff seem to pay a lot of attention to tables seating 4,6, or 8 customer’s, but seem to ignore couples. After this experience, we will not be visiting the restaurant on a Saturday night again.

Food was delicious but busy Saturday night, could of done with another member of staff as too many tables in for the waitress to handle

Mini poppadoms were a poor substitute for the real thing. Lamb rib starter was fatty and lacked flavour and spicing. Lamb main also lacked spice but was very salty. Tikka Masala tasted like tomato soup, sweetened with honey. The pilau rice was dark brown in colour and tasted like basmati tossed in soy sauce and the Naan bread wasn't a proper Naan, more like normal bead and it looked like it came out of a packet. After all the hype, I was so looking forward to my meal, but I've never been so disappointed. I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend either.

Third visit now and absolutely wonderful food and service, probably one of the best Indian Restaurants around. Just glad it's in Urmston!
