Established in 1959, owners Jenny Youll and Mike Sabina expanded the once small coffeehouse of St. Michaels Alley into this intimate dining establishment in 2009. The restaurant provides three comfortable spaces for a dinner out with friends, date night, or a complete private event. The main dining room is wood paneled and intimate. The front room / bar area is more casual and social, yet still offers tables with linens and the full menu. The solid wood bar is a favorite dining spot for many of the regulars and locals. A beautiful outdoor patio is most enjoyable on warm summer days and nights as it open to the sky. Enjoy a cocktail at the full bar before venturing into one of the upscale and relaxed dining spaces of St. Michael's Alley.

The restaurant is currently offering the Autumn Menu on the Patio as well as takeout, Tuesday through Sunday starting at 5pm.

    Our dinner and service was outstanding from start to finish. A gracious greeting from our server offering us a varied menu with tempting specials. We dined in a lovely, quiet room not bothered by loud music or noisy patrons We started with a nice kale salad and followed with scallops and the duck special -- both tasty, attractive and perfectly prepared. We finished with hot coffee and an excellent tiramisu. Very reasonably priced for the quality of everything we received

    Three friends out for dinner and conversation. We shared three small dishes and one main and it was delightful. Food was super. The woman serving us was absolutely lovely. We enjoyed her attitude, service and presence. Only downside was noise level for conversation. It was loud however as evening went on it was more comfortable. Totally recommend!!! My go to spot in Palo Alto for fresh, well cooked food and great ambiance.

    Another night, another great dinner. St. Mike's has really improved its food over the last year, and it's become our "go to" place. We love the ambience – it feels like our neighborhood hang out now even though we don't live in Palo Alto. The food has been consistently outstanding.

    I had the rack of lamb and it was perfectly done, medium rare. The Caesar salad had nice crisp romaine lettuce, the right amount of dressing, a bit too much parmesan and no anchovies. My companion had the seafood pasta, also delicious. The wine list was extensive and the service was very good. In all, a very pleasant evening.
