Unfortunately it was very disappointing although I picked St Regis for the brand and its reputation, but the experience was not up to St Regis' standard at all, it was terrible.
My afternoon tea booking was for 14:30, I was early, arrived at 2pm, picked a table, but no one offered anything, no drinks no menu. I went away and came back at around 2:20pm. This was minor compared to the later experience.
My friend arrived and we confirmed we would take the afternoon tea set. While setting up the tableware, there were no napkins. Again, this was minor.
So we ordered the tea set. Instead of a tea set in a three-layer tower, they first came with a plate of savoury items (mini sandwiches, etc.). I was shocked but I didn't say anything, I thought perhaps this was the new standard? (although I am sure this is not the standard of a St Regis)
We waited but nothing else was served (still no napkins). Around 3:20pm, someone came, apologised and told us that the kitchen was still working on the dessert and it won't be available until 4pm.
At around 4:10pm, they came with a plate of dessert...
Around 4:25pm, they came with a plate of two scones...
Can you imagine... 2:30pm savoury items, 4:10pm dessert, 4:25pm scone...
This is nothing close to an "afternoon tea experience" at a luxury hotel.
Although they gave us a plate of free fruit before the dessert, but it did not help at all. I rather they check more often on us whether we finished our drinks/water/etc. Which they never did.
Only after I paid everything that I told the staff that this is wrong, completely wrong and it was a mess. I didn't want to ask for anything but I just wanted to raise it up that this is very wrong. They should never do this to any other guest again, ever.
