   I was disappointed by my visit to Stanley's with my girlfriend. The server was pleasant at first and took us to our table in the conservatory (which had a chill draft). The server then explained the menu and told us about the Chef's Sirloin Special which included a 500g sirloin steak together with potatoes roasted in duck fat and leaks. This sounded good to us and we went with that option. However, when it arrived there were no potatoes. We were surprised, and I asked the server where the potatoes were. He then said that there were no potatoes. This was odd to us, and my girlfriend and I definitely recalled that he said the meal came with potatoes (otherwise, it was just steak, leaks, and salad which seemed odd). Then, shortly later, we saw that another table near us were served the steak which came with potatoes! At this point, it seemed like the server had simply outright lied to us. If they had simply forgotten the potatoes, we would have accepted this and would have expected them to shortly arrive. Instead, we were led to believe that the meal had not come with potatoes. We were not told that the potatoes were an option that had to be picked (and we don't believe it was an option), and the bill only stated that the Sirloin Special was £45 with no further breakdown. It is just disappointing to think that we were lied to instead of a simple mistake being owned up to.

   We had a lovely evening. Food was great esp the parmigiana! Also our waitress was fabulous.

   I could not have been more delighted to have chosen Stanley's for my son's 21st Birthday lunch. 8 guests chose a large variety of dishes which were all a huge success. The Ribeye steak being a particular favourite.
