   The service is the prize here at State Bird. My friend has true celiac disease and the care that the servers took to make sure we knew exactly what he could order was wonderful. There were plenty of options and the food was delicious.

   We had a birthday celebration dinner and it was our first time at State Bird Provisions. We absolutely loved the concept of the dim sum cart small plates along with the menu for some of the other items. The food was fresh and the flavor profiles of the dishes were unique. Using Guava for instance in a savory dish was such a clever idea that worked well. Loved the sourdough pancakes with the sauerkraut powder. Several dishes were standouts - loved the sweet potato small plate. The sauces and dips were extraordinary as well. A word about the desserts too - the Cardamom icecream sandwich and the Bao with the black sesame filling were really lovely. I had also requested a signed copy of the cookbook as a gift for the birthday guest - really glad I did - the cookbook is wonderful and inspiring! I am a fermentation enthusiast and can’t wait to make some of the fermentation recipes in the cookbook. These days eating out is such a hit or miss that we were really glad to be delighted by this experience at State Bird Provisions!

   The experience didn’t live up to the price. We spent around $350 for two glasses of wine and a small tasting menu, which felt overpriced for the portion sizes. While the concept is interesting, the flavors didn’t stand out, and even the signature dish, the ‘State Bird with Provisions,’ was just okay. If you’re looking for a high-end dining experience, there are other options that offer better value.

   Wow, fantastic food either ordered from the menu or selected off of trays brought to your table. One-star Michelin for 2022, 2023, 2024. Reservations strongly recommended; credit card $50 cancellation fee per person if cancelled within 24 hours.

   State Bird has been on my list for a while. I’m glad I went as I had heard it was a must-visit while in SF. However, while it is cheaper than many Michelin restaurants, it still costs quite a lot for what you get. The food was neither good nor bad but for the price, I will not be returning.

   Very nice menu this season, it’s well rounded with veggie and protein options - I would like to see the dim sum menu in advance to better plan the meal but I guess that’s the fun of it The duck dumplings were fantastic - I think it should be a classic item!

    Food and ambience is exquisite! Staff attentive and friendly. We keep coming back as it never disappoints. Oysters with sauerkraut and chili oil are amazing, and pork belly is our favorite.
