Great ambience, great food, great company, wonderful experience. Nice that John, the owner, was out and about visiting tables. Ate upstairs and look forward to trying the main floor. We'll be back.

This establishment is one of those places you want to scream about from a mountain top but also secretly want to keep it to yourself in an effort to preserve the magic. Beautiful venue with extensive history, great decor and a cozy charm. Outstanding service across the board, we were lucky enough to be one of the first groups to experience their table side Prosciutto Affettato al Tavolo and got to learn about the history, practices and culture around it. The menu appeared to focus on Italian cuisine but it was quite diverse. The food was absolutely phenomenal! I personally would recommend the Arancini, Smoked Duck, Steak tartare and the Table side Prosciutto. They have an extensive inventory of wine that we thoroughly enjoyed. Would HIGHLY recommend you book a reservation ASAP.

Service has been inconsistent over the last 2 times I've been there. Different servers coming to the table asking the same questions. Food was tasty. I had the Meatball sandwich this time. Meatballs should have been cut in half on the bun. It was awkward biting through a big meatball with half the bun containing nothing but sauce.

This restaurant is just a few weeks old, so I know there are kinks to iron out, which they’ve already perfected in the more casual pub they opened on the ground floor. 6 family members went on a Sunday evening for our early Christmas celebration. Service was great and the food good. I wouldn’t say it was fine dining per se; more like elevated dishes on a predictable Italian menu. The ambience needs some work; it feels somehow sparse in the space, despite a beautiful renovation. Lighting, consistent music (at times there was no music) that isn’t bar music, linen instead of paper napkins, and attention to guests comfort would elevate this to a real fine dining experience. We were seated in the center of the room (who ever loves that?) at a smallish table for 6 people. There was a gorgeous booth by the window that would have made us all more comfortable; I didn’t ask for it because I assumed they had a larger party coming in. It sat empty the whole evening which was a bit of a miss by the restaurant as it would have made our experience more festive and memorable. Not a big deal and I will be back, but like I mentioned there are some kinks to work out if they want this fine dining spot to differentiate itself from the already lovely pub resto downstairs.

Hi Kathleen and thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed the service and food and you are right, it is not "fine dining".. it isn't supposed to be.. upstairs anyways.. (our private wine cellar is a different story) the intent is "Upscale Casual".. elevated dishes giving our team a chance to show off a little.. and yes, definitely an Italian baseline but a dose of French as well! We left the decor a touch sparse on purpose.. so many people have so many memories in the building, we wanted to leave room to put more history on the walls as it came our way.. and our locals are filling it.. we love the connection we have with Meaford and the Fire Hall and this is part of how we honour it. And that table was booked for an 8. A no show, and too late to seat someone else.. frustrates us as well

I find the booking on line challenging. When in restaurant in person told to book on line. Last evening we had an extra person in our party. The hostess was snippy about having an extra person. We should have let them know. I tried and again found the on line booking challenging.

My wife and I quite enjoyed our experience. The quality and taste of the food was very good. Our meals were received in a timely manner and the food was served hot. My only suggestion relates to portion size which was a little small, in my opinion.

If you have a big appetite be ready to order multiple items from the menu. The food was great, but the portion sizes were small and pricey. For the price on the menu expected to receive a side salad or soup with the dish. The building is very unique and well decorated. We were seated in the Market kitchen which was nice, just don't wear your good pants as the tables are slated and if something falls of your plate it lands in your lap. There was only 1 other party of 6 in the Market Kitchen and we were seated right beside them. We had requested one of the other 4 2-seater tables but where told they all had reservations - at least 1 sat empty the whole time we were there. Overall a disappointing, expensive experience

Hello Pam and thank you for your review. We believe dining should be an experience that involves high quality food, a unique environment and service that is seamless and comfortable.. Are we there yet? Not quite, but we are getting there. We start with only the best ingredients, fresh produce & baking daily, hand cut Cerified Black Angus to order, "00" pizza dough for all of our pizzas and sauces made from scratch. The price of food is high. The price of a living wage is high. The environment is a fully restored 145 year old brick building. Things may cost a touch more.. we have done our best to keep things as reasonable as possible.. and right on track with the other places in town. And the resos.. if you ever wondered why restaurants take credit cards.. to prevent what you experienced.
