   The food and service were phenomenal, however, and unfortunately, we were sat near the door, which has a very small waiting area. Due to that it got pretty crowded and loud otherwise we would’ve stayed for another round of drinks.

   This is a new Steak & Bourbon (1 month) on 4th St. We went here for my wife’s birthday. Everything about our experience was great. The staff is friendly, attentive, and professional. The ambiance was good. We sat at a table next to the bar area (nice lounge setup by the bar with couches and overstuffed chairs). My only complaint would be that the saxophone player was too loud. Next time I would ask for a table farther from the bar. The food was delicious. I had the S&B salad, ribeye steak and Brussels sprouts. All were great. My wife had the lobster bisque, steak trio and Mac & cheese. She also totally enjoyed it. I have to make mention of the complimentary dinner rolls. They were warm and fluffy and served with a beef tallow candle (seriously!). Fantastic! Will definitely be back next time we are visiting Louisville.

   We are frequent diners at the Herr location and wanted to try the new location downtown. The ambiance and service was great. The food was just “mid” when compared to what we are accustomed to with Steak and Bourbon. Our appetizer, spinach and crab dip was just lightly warm, almost cold, under the crust of the cheese and the oysters tasted off a bit. I don’t think they were bad, but something seemed off. We didn’t complain and just continued. I usually get the Oscar style filet (can’t go wrong with it here) so I stuck with that. This time my steak was covered in a salty taste, so much so that I couldn’t get past one bite. The other two steaks at our table also experienced this issue. The manager said he would check in the kitchen but he only took one steak back and came back 5-7 min later and said he would now take all of them and remake. I don’t know the process but I thought this was odd. We then waited about 20 min for new steaks to arrive. Our sides were brought with the original steaks so we waited and of course by that time, they were all cold. Usually they clear the table and just bring fresh sides with the meal. We didn’t complain. My steak was medium rare vs medium but I just ate it anyway. The other guests was more medium well vs medium that she ordered. My béarnaise sauce was curdled and cold. We just decided to box it up, pay and leave. No apology or credit was offered. We were there over 2 hours. As a note, later in the evening I overheard another table mention the salty taste as well so it wasn’t just us. I was slightly annoyed because it was a birthday dinner and my guests were from out of town and I wanted them to experience the restaurant. I won’t be back to this location and will stick to the original place. I felt like I threw money away that night. Minus the tip…our server and hostess team were wonderful.

   Wonderful experience at Steak and Bourbon. Love the Westport road location. Love the downtown vibe and the couch lounge feel. Fabulous service. Super loud obnoxious table next to us, but not restaurant fault. We return and the short rib pot roast is my favorite dish in louisville.
