Four of the staff called in sick. They also didn't have my reservation from OpenTable that was made months prior. Took over 30 minutes to get seated at a tiny table directly in front of the stage. Ugh. Hostess Jenna B. stepped up and was our server. After that all went well. She was kind and efficient and did not in the least show the stress they we under. Kudos to her!!

I didn't know they are no longer using Open Table for reservations, so it was a bit of a hassle although we got seated

Note: There is a parking lot both behind this restaurant, and also across Sacramento street to the left of a defunct restaurant. We didn't know about the second one, and had to park blocks away downtown. That said, when we called to say we were running late due to parking problems, the hostess said "No worries ! We'll hold a table for you!" We had asked for a quieter area of the restaurant, and yes, we were seated there. The owner greeted us at our table, drink orders were taken, and everything was delicious. The salads are HUGE - we each took 2 servings from the bowl and still took some home . While Oysters On The Half Shell were delicious, there were only three - for $11. Ouch. Bread costs extra, too, but again, it was very good. Wines are pricy at $14-18 a glass, but very high quality. So, we split the Flatiron Steak entree (very tasty) and it was plenty.

We were a group of seven and enjoyed a private experience in the larger dining room. The food and service were excellent.

We really look forward to the second Sunday of the month's SupperClub at the Stonehouse in Nevada City. Chef Garret never disappoints! His 5 course menu is always creative, a delicious blend of flavors, and beautifully presented. We enjoy inviting friends to dine with us to share in this culinary experience. The staff is professional and friendly.

Our favorite restaurant in the Nevada City/ Grass valley area. Quality of food is excellent. The service is friendly and personal. The suffer club with the wine and food pairing is a blast. A real gem in this area.

Walked in 10 minutes early and was immediately seated at a cozy table near a window. The ambience was fantastic, except for the loud table of people near us who had been drinking too much. Honestly, the food was great. The service was great, but the noise got irritating. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special night out.

I went to Stone House with two girlfriends for ladies night. It was a wonderful experience. The food was great. The service was excellent...We even got a visit from the owner to our table. He shared with us his vision for having as many locally sourced meats and vegetables on the menu as possible. We were seated in the restaurant, in a room with a beautiful fireplace. It was lovely. If you were looking for a great place for date night or just want to treat yourself, I highly recommend the Stone House.

Very impressive service, selection, and quality. Lovely old building tastefully remodeled to keep the stone building ambience. The menu has wide range of selections from steak, fish, and vegan dishes. We had the fried chicken, scallops, and vegan lasagna. All were excellent. The fried chicken came with a generous portion of boneless thighs fried to perfection, crispy outside and tender inside. Comes with a side of nicely prepared mashed potatoes. Scallops were also a generous portion cooked to perfection with a lovely puree of cauliflower. Vegan dishes are rarely seen on the menu which is really appreciated and the lasagne was executed perfectly with a creamy sauce and a crusty top. The wine and beer menu also has a great selection. Will definitely be back!
