Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Sugar Factory - Detroit offers a lively atmosphere, perfect for celebrations. While guests rave about the "delicious milkshakes" and "amazing desserts," the experience can be a mixed bag due to "loud music" and "overpriced" menu items. Despite some service hiccups, standout servers like Onas and Shauna ensure memorable visits.

The place filthy and tacky . Warm water served in plastic cups. Waited over an hour after being seated for food even with a reservation. The food was not great . Do not waste your money!

Slow service long wait for table. Took about 30-45 minutes after our reservation time to get seated. Took an incredibly long time to get waited on and even longer to get our drinks

Menu was ugly and too busy so it made the food pictures unappealing and made the prices seem insane. Service was terrible. We had a reservation at 7, got sat at 720 and didn’t get our drinks until 802. Food tasted good but nothing special. I had a club and it was a 8 dollar version not 22. Restaurant was overall not clean. Hosts were not welcoming or friendly. Music was fun but very loud if you are sensitive to that. Whole place smelled of marijuana. It was my daughters 16th bday and we didn’t even have dessert as she just wanted to get out of there.

The price is way too high and not worth it. The worst flatbread I’ve ever had. The pasta had no flavor or salt. Service was lacking. No one was friendly to us and barely checked in. We had to ask for a high chair twice and then had to ask for silverware as we hadn’t been given any. 20% gratuity was added to bill and we were told by our server that in addition to the 20% that goes to all staff, he appreciates cash tips for himself as well. This was the most he had spoken to us the entire night.

We waited even though there was a reservation. We were sat with no menus and wet plates that got the napkin wet that they put right on top of the plate. We waited for 20 minutes for menus and a server to approach us. We were served 3 waters when we asked for waters for the table but we had 4 people at the table. We still didn’t receive silverware when the food came. We asked for the sliders with just cheese and ketchup and it came out with pickles and their slider sauce. I ordered a drink that took 40 minutes to come to the table. The food was at best mid. They brought out one dessert 25 minutes before the second one for each of my kids. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. We will never go back to Sugar Factory in Detroit. I have no idea how that place survives.

Service was slow to seat even with reservations. Silverware was not on table. Had to ask for it. Food was bland considering the price. Definitely not worth it. Won’t be returning.

Very disappointed. Floors were slippery, place smelled awful, food had no flavor - besides the tomato soup, beyond overpriced, never got the soda ordered and when mentioned to the waiter he gave us $5 in cash out of his pocket, hot chocolate that was ordered came after the meal was done and as we paid. Will not be back!

I was there for my birthday Friday after the tree lighting in Detroit. My reversation was for 845 and the staff was kind enough to seat my group at a earlier time. Perfect. By the time we sat down it went down hill, the server I thought maybe he was having a bad day. The service we received was below minimum. We received water with ice in the beginning and after that it was warm water severed. It took 3 hours to order and to received our food by 10pm He managed to take care of his other 2 tables non stop. Not sure what happen to us, he disappeared for 45 mins. The manager there a young lady step in to try accommodate us. A string of lights fell from ceiling, knocked over the water on one of my guest. She had to leave because she was super wet unfortunately, We still never complained one bit, we just had to keep asking where is our food. Had to drink warm water. It was very disappointing. The place is beautiful, I love the hype. Staff was wonderful with exception of our waiter he was 25% ok Food was a huge disappointment, my daughter food was returned. The rest of us kept our because we were hungry. We regretted it, my other daughter food was terrible, $42 for chicken tender and fries is way too much. My food was dry, Anyway I like the Sugar Factory but, my experience was 80% disappointing.

Went there for my 21st birthday, had a party of 4 and a reservation. We sat at our table for 3 hours, was never greeted by our waitress, was never given food. the cups with water in them were dirty. We ended up getting up and leaving. The workers were more worried about how loud the music was and dancing for other birthdays rather than making sure everyone was getting served. The manager Kyle was very sorry but I will never go back again.
