   Worst Experience of My Life From start to finish, this was a disaster. First, it was freezing. There were plenty of heaters around, but when we asked the waiter to turn one on, he said he couldn’t move them. We had a prepaid menu, and the service was painfully slow. It took 45 minutes just to get the first dish—a soup. The second dish was a steak. I ordered it medium, but it came rare. The quality of the steak was terrible—completely inedible. The food was awful, the service was terrible, and the entire experience was beyond disappointing. I would never go back.

   As I approached the day with modest expectations, especially since it was Valentine's Day, I found myself genuinely curious about the experience ahead. The venue was beautifully decorated with an array of flowers and plants, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, if you're considering dining here, I’d recommend eating a little something beforehand, as the portion sizes leaned toward the smaller side—this was my main concern for the evening. It’s also good to keep in mind that nonalcoholic drinks are priced the same as regular cocktails, which might catch you off guard. On a brighter note, the food was absolutely delicious, though there was a bit of a wait between courses; then again, it was Valentine's Day, so a little patience is to be expected.

   I booked this restaurant for Valentine’s Day, excited about the location and the beautiful ambiance. Since the menu wasn’t posted in advance, I took a chance, thinking it might be a fun surprise. It wasn’t. The food was mediocre, and for $100 per person, you’d expect at least a drink option, but no—only tap, sparkling, or still water was included. Anything else, even a soda, had to be purchased separately. We ran into traffic, as expected in LA, and called ahead to let them know we’d be a little late. Instead of a simple accommodation, it turned into an unnecessary hassle. When we finally arrived, we were taken to a dull, back-room dining area, completely separate from the vibrant, well-lit spaces that had initially drawn us to this place. There were plenty of open tables in the nicer sections, but for whatever reason, we were stuck in a bland, lifeless room with no music or atmosphere—certainly not the romantic setting we had in mind. Then came the service issues. Since we had prepaid, they already had our money, and when I asked if there was any refund option, I was essentially told to “talk to the Wizard of Oz upstairs” as if it were an impossible request. On top of that, gratuity was automatically added, which would be fine if drinks had been included, but since they weren’t, we had to place separate orders for anything beyond water—meaning we got hit with another round of gratuity. Overall, the experience felt like a complete bait-and-switch. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, but the way they handled this event was a ripoff. It wasn’t worth the money, and I wouldn’t return, especially for a special occasion.

   Lovely venue, we sat out the back garden area which was nice. The heaters were going so we weren’t cold at all. The food was beautiful, highly recommend the dishes we had - olives, charred octopus, seafood ceviche and truffle fries.

   I never leave bad reviews but this was horrendous. My mum and I couldn't stop laughing because of how the food turned out. The "shrimp cocktail" was four poorly presented shrimps on a massive empty bowl with some little raspberry sauce. It was so bad. A child could have put it together better. The saffron pasta was awful. Pasta wickedly over cooked, all butter sauce and muscles weren't in the shells which just felt really weird. Chocolate pudding looked and tasted like something from a cheap supermarket. I had a non-alcoholic cocktail which was just water basically for $14. I honestly couldn't recommend this place less. And all for the price of $189 for two people. Horrendous. Please don't waste your evening.

   Great food! Our server Luis was fabulous and very knowledgeable about the menu. Highly recommend Sur if you’re in the Los Angeles area.
