Tanta is dedicated to sharing the flavors and culture of Peru with Chicago, serving authentic Peruvian dishes and beverages in an approachable, fun and casual downtown setting. We provide service that is casual yet knowledgeable, genuine and attentive, utilizing locally sourced products and vendors that are sensitive to sustainable farming and fishing.

Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.

The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Tito Rocha, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

    Lomo Saltado was served with either a low quality steak or it was not cooked properly. The Steak is hard and chewy. Terribly cooked for two dishes. The Heart Anticucho is extremely spicy and hard/chewy. Causa de pollo was extremely salty. Ceviche also spicy it was difficult to eat. The Chicha Morada taste more like a lemonade than Chicha. Theirs Not enough PERUVIAN dishes to choose from. I had faith this restaurant from GASTON ACURIO will be another Delicious experience just like JARANA. The cook and Menu selection is the reason I will 100% Not recommend this “Peruvian” Restaurant to anyone wanting to taste our delicious cuisine. This is Not Peruvian and possibly is not cooked by one either.

    Definitely did not appreciate the fact that my table of guests (I was paying) was seated just inside the door at the top of the stairs. This meant that every time guests entered or exited, they were basically opening the door, with cold air, right onto our table. This table should be removed. Seriously. Plus it was LOUD LOUD LOUD even if we were upstairs. The food was great, the service was impeccable. But. Seriously folks, if I could get my money back for this very expensive work dinner, I would. Please hear me. I doubt sincerely that any party appreciates being seated IN THE DOORWAY. Geez.

    Went to brunch with the girls. It was a great experience overall. The food was absolutely delicious. The only thing is the wait staff kept coming to our table repeatedly making it seem like they wanted us to leave, while we were the only ones at this restaurant. Other than that, it was great and it was amazing. Will definitely go back for dinner.
