TAO Chicago offers guests a sensual trip through the cuisines of Asia. The design-driven restaurant and adjoining nightclub is inspired by the original TAO locations in New York City, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

TAO Chicago features multiple levels, creating dynamic spaces within the historic building’s shell, while adding TAO’s Asian-influenced DNA to the restaurant, lounge and nightclub including murals by artist Hush and TAO’s signature 16-foot-tall Quan Yin statue anchoring one end of the dining room.

TAO Chicago’s restaurant menu, created by TAO Group Partner and Chef Ralph Scamardella , is complete with Pan-Asian offerings from the sea, sky and land including signature dishes like Satay of Chilean Sea Bass, Crispy Rice Tuna and a Wagyu Rib-Eye.

    Food was great. ...but the restaurant is overcrowded and understaffed, significantly diminishing the experience. We won't go again.

    Everyone we encountered was most helpful and nice. They got us in at our reservation time which was great and the food was exceptional. Everyone enjoyed the dishes they ordered which included the Tokyo filet, 2 waygu ribeyes and the duck. We also ordered several appetizers and were very pleased and probably would have ordered more but the requirement of ordering all our food at once made us feel like we couldn’t. This would be the thing that I would have to say didn’t please me at all and put a lot of undue pressure in the ordering process.

    We loved the vibe. Sexy atmosphere with a live DJ. The night started out great but then our server seemed to go missing. We had apps served but our entrees didn’t show up. We waited at least and hour and the manager came over and said the food was on the way and he would comp our entrees and a round of drinks (which was a nice gesture.) But when the food finally arrived it was dry and cold like it had been microwaved and sitting around for a long time. We didn’t eat it. TAO is such a beautiful space but the food was a complete failure. Our server re-appeared at the very end to give us our check and that was it. It was overall a really disappointing experience.

    Understanding this place is simple. It’s a night club with food. The ambience is off the charts. It’s loud, busy and beautiful. Great nightclub type vibe. BUT- the food is mediocre and over priced. And the service is horrible. We were there for over 3 hours. Sat for prolonged periods with empty drinks and no food. The food literally took over 2 hours. Amazingly bad considering the price. They did comp some drinks. But it did not make up for the terrible service. Go for the atmosphere but keep your expectations low.

    2nd time here. First time in 2019. This time 2024 and Pad Thai with shrimp was uneventful, a tad to sweet compared to authentic Pad Thai. Vegetable eggs rolls were okay. Duck fried rice decent. Ambience is the reason for the visit and service was very good. Slightly overpriced.

    Waiter was excellent- explained all the specialty cocktails and popular dishes. Although we don’t like being asked to order all at once. We like to figure the menu out as we go along. Anyway, many items were excellent, like to pot stickers, and the Peking Duck. However we were not impressed with the sushi or rolls. They weren’t great- just ok at best. We will go again and try other menu items.
